I know it hurts but we need to drop this game and let the dirty donks travel to Buffalo. They have a real shot if the moment isn't too big for them. Then again..

it feels disgusting to agree with clay but yes. this ****er is right but for totally different reasons. we need to actively lose this game. otherwise, you are giving the bills a literal ****ing bye week in the wildcard round vs indy/miami.
the donks may be trash but their defense will at least put up a fight against the bills. those other two scrubs are just a cake walk... and you can forget about the bengals their fate rests on like 3 different bullshit fluke things occurring to get in. it's unrealistic. Wentz is gonna play like his career depends on it and put a whoopin on the Donks. Then some fans are gonna go full reerun and say they should keep starting him for the playoffs and that's when we call them a butt****ing moran.

Just read this from our improbable playoff berth in 06. This is pretty close to what Cinci needs:
1.Kansas City defeats Jacksonville. This seemed doable. It's a home game for the Chiefs, the Jaguars were reeling (2 straight losses, including an absolute heartbreaker to New England on Christmas Eve), and the Jaguars were 2-5 on the road entering that game. 2. Cincinnati loses to Pittsburgh. Possible, but not likely. Even though the Bengals had lost 2 straight, this game against Pittsburgh was at home. In the road meeting, the Bengals won 28-20. 3. Denver loses to San Francisco. Almost impossible. The game was in Denver, the 49ers had lost 4 of their last 5 games, and Denver had won their last 2 games. And, in Alex Smith's last 5 games, he had a passer rating below 67 in 4 of them, to go along with 8 interceptions. 4. Tennessee loses to New England. In hindsight, this is the only one of these that seemed incredibly likely to happen, even though the game was in Tennessee. The Pats had won 5 of their last 6 games and were not resting their starters for some reason (Brady played the entire game). However, at the time, the Titans were favored by 3.5. |

Ran the playoffs scenarios, amd used the ESPN win predictability.
Entering Sunday, there are 64 remaining scenarios, ignoring ties. Below are: scenario wins (weighted ESPN odds % of team getting last spot): Denver=44 (59.3%) Cincy = 9 (12.1%) Miami= 6 (10.8%) Indy = 5 (17.8%) |

Looking at the ESPN playoff machine, we really need Pitt to beat Cincy. If they do, the Dolts have to go to Baltimore, and I think they will lose there.
I dont want to face LA in the Divisional, which we will if they play either Pitt or Hou in the WC round. Our game against Denver seems more or less irrelevant apart from petty bragging rights, as they are going to get pummeled in Buffalo even if they qualify. I see no scenario where at least one of the Colts or Dolphins dont win their last 2, so the Bengals are irrelevant. Last edited by milkshock; 12-29-2024 at 06:38 AM.. |

Threads like these are fun, provided you know it’s all internet fodder. If you actually think NFL players and coaches aren’t going to try to win a game they are playing in, you’re delusional.
Obviously resting guys for health is different so you do that but the players in the game will 100% be playing to win, especially Carson Wentz who wants to be a starter again, somewhere. |

The good news is that Denver needs to win so they’ll be playing with plenty of pep in their step. My guess is Andy plays the starters for one series then it’s backups time. Denver’s ones need to bear our twos.

Most likely case, they knock the shit out of you and set back the good momentum you had going. Worst case, they injure someone you really need in the playoffs. |
