It's going to be hard to beat 3-4 playoff teams with Morris at LT

We are average 5.2 yards per play, which is *by far* the worst of the Mahomes era and actually *below average* this year in the NFL. He's probably the worst starting LT in the league and kills drives.

I think you have to bring in one of the former starters who are on the street.

Tranquil looks so slow these days.

He got smoked by Allen on that late TD run. And it seems to happen a half dozen times every game.

He's a smart player, but the athleticism just isn't there. If he takes a false step, he's just roasted.

Morris
Taylor
Kingsley
Driskell
Hanson
Caliendo
Thuney
Smith
Humphrey
Nourzad

And we've got one spot available with these guys returning or potentially returning at some point

Pacheco
Omenihu
Butker
Brown
Watson

Pacheco can take the open spot right now.

Butker replaces the current kicker.

Omenihu replaces?

Watson could replace Keith Taylor

Brown replaces?

To bring in Smith they'd have be prepared to go with eleven line-men?

A new CB could just replace Keith Taylor right now but the O-line situation is more challenging because Veach would effectively be waving the white flag on his two draft picks at this point.

I think the front office and Andy will certainly be having some tough conversations about these issues tbh.
Make Kingsley be hurt. Sign Smith or Baktiari.

I would even be in favor of having Tuney play over there. It can't get any worse.

He's always been slow and weak at the point of contact, but this year he looks a step slower AND weak to boot. This is why I couldn't understand why they paid Tranquil to let Gay walk. IMOP it was a pretty significant drop off from Gay to Tranquil. I think we should play more nickel and put Hicks out there. He does literally EVERYTHNG better than Tranquil. Tackling included, as I don't believe I've seen Hicks miss a tackle yet this year.

It actually could get worse as Thuney might be only a marginal upgrade while his replacement at LG could be far worse which impacts that position at possibly C.

The real crime is he’s making more than double Gay’s $3M deal.

I like Veach but he’s making some contractual errors. Upping the center market by $5M, for instance.

I still wonder if at some point mahomes will get upset enough about this that he takes a one year “holiday” on his contract to give the chiefs breathing room to bring in an LT who can be a long term foundational piece. I get it… it’s his money, but it’s the kind of thing that would go a very long way toward keeping him healthy and boosting his legacy.

I know this is very unrealistic. But if anyone would consider something like this, it’s Mahomes

He's had a couple mediocre offseasons. Guess it's to be expected given where we're picking but it doesn't completely excuse drafting some really poor players at the top of the draft.

What you’re seeing is a result of drafting developmental players.

We aren’t getting much of anything from Felix and it’s showing. We aren’t getting anything from Kingsley and it’s badly needed.

They need to use those 3 top 70 picks next April and get guys who are ready to play immediately and help us.

I don't even know if you can call those two developmental players at this point. Worthy is the only one who I'd put in that category. FAU is what he is, seen absolutely nothing from him to think he'll develop into anything more than a 3rd/4th option in the DL rotations, and Suamataia is more of a complete teardown/rebuild. That kid is ****ED right now.

That entire situation makes me wonder if there wasn't some validity to the Willie Gay trade rumors. I wonder if they thought they could make that trade and take a small downgrade at LB to upgrade another position. I can't even remember what the comp was or what team it was with now though. I need to go back and look.

The Chiefs are between Jax and Denver in yards per play this year, and at 5.2 yards per play, it's the fewest since Romeo Crennel was head coach. Yes, we have *significant* issues at LT. Most years with Mahomes we were #1 or #2 (#1 as recently as 2022) and even last year, top 10.
