Okay, here is a place for the Golfers to talk about tournaments, clubs, swing help or thoughts.

Today is the Players Championship, which I think ought to be the 5th Major. Largest pot in the PGA. The daunting 17th, which seems to bring excitement every year. At least we will get to see Sergio blow up yet again.

I am ready to see some water balls!

Anyone have a PGA Championship stream for this morning before it comes on regular cable? I refuse to ever subscribe to ESPN+ for eternity.

Do you see these 22-30 year old guys hitting the ball 310-325 on a fly and having 340-360 yard drives?

That's ****ing insane.

Their club speed is through the roof.

No 45+ year old guy can do that.

ALL athletes are freaks of nature these days. The golfers of the 70's, 80's and 90's never even lifted a weight. The guys these days are physical specimens, with a few outliers of course.

Jack Nicklaus used a persimmon driver and a wound balata ball and hit one 341 in 1961 at the Long Drive at the PGA. The athletes are better, yes, but it's mostly the equipment. Give current players in baseball shaved aluminum bats and see what would happen.

That's why I don't understand the furor over rolling the ball back. Does anyone's beer league team use wood bats?

Yeah, it's probably correct that in golf the advances in equipment are more responsible than the players being stronger/more fit. Baseball and football are the two sports where I think the quality of athlete has changed immensely compared to the previous eras.

Maybe not but his distance has really deteriorated compared to golfers of his same age. I'm not comparing him to PGA Tour guys but Champion Tour guys.

The major manufacturers will only make conforming balls, the USGA ruled against bifurcation, which is ridiculous. This would be forcing your beer league to use wood bats.
