Considering how well those cars are taken care on then, no. You could probably eat off the engine in any of those cars.

Always something though. Keep getting it reeeaaaaal close to where i want it and then missing. The new steering box last year I was sure was going to have it perfect but it's ****ing STIFF and it's not adjustable because I overbought. It's designed for harder driving than I'll ever put it through so I can either drop another $600 on it or just deal with it.
And it has a fuel pickup issue now where if I'm below half a tank and take a turn with any degree of aggression, the motor falls off. It's acting like it's starving and it wouldn't make a lot of sense that it's the fuel injection if it's only when I turn but I'd also think there'd be enough fuel in the lines that it shouldn't make an impact immediately after the turn either. That one's got me completely dumbfounded. Could be a safety cutoff in the fuel pump that I'm unaware of. This is the inherent danger in being semi-mechanically inclined but not at all experienced. I'll try some shit, make it worse and then it sits in the garage for 4 months until I can get my shadetree mechanic to make a bay somewhere for me and he'll fix it when he has time. It also has an ignition thing where sometimes it just won't fire. I can live with the other shit but I don't trust that ignition one damn bit at the moment and haven't found the time to replace it. I don't feel like leaving the car at a softball complex overnight because it finally decided to give up the ghost on me. Love that car but it's a money-pit. They ALL are unless you have a frame-off restoration done at the cost of a small house. Considering a souped up Camry costs more than the car and everything I've done/had done to it, I'm willing to deal with the occasional gremlins. |

https://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/4000...SABEgKQavD_BwE It's a pretty basic 383 stroker so it's not complicated; basically a simple small block setup - just need a damn spark to go bang and sometimes I just get a 'click' and that's that. It's more prone to doing it when it's been sitting, even just for a few hours during the day. Since it's getting worse, it's getting parked until I put my head in there and confirm. Since I'm not getting any turnover or anything but the electrical all seems fine, I think it's just not getting the signal sent. |

"uh...shit if I know - the one EVERYONE has?" But not he's got me curious so I'll go look at the wiring to confirm when I get home. I suppose it's possible they threw that 2-wire rig in there but I'm not sure why they would've. But ultimately my position on electricity is that it's magic and only wizards truly understand it so if I can't bolt/unbolt and fix it, it's off to see my boy Mitch who will probably have it for a month and charge me a can of skoal to fix it or something. I friggen hate electrical work. I went and found the original wiring diagram once when my hideaway doors weren't working, got in there and realized there's nothing original to that thing and I'm nowhere near smart enough to figure it out. Took it in to have it fixed and he told me the wires had melted back to the relays somehow and I'm lucky I didn't burn my house down. Evidently the doors didn't make it back to the cutoff switch so the engines just ran until they burned up and somehow those wires just melted away. Old cars do weird shit, man. Over the decade or so I've had that car, I've had to come to grips with my limitations and that friggen car points 'em out in a hurry... |

I guess it could be the starter motor? I've had some pretty fun experiences in disphittery there including raining sparks on myself trying to bypass it with a screwdriver and eventually replacing 3 starter motors only to realize I had the !@#$ing thing in neutral so the safety switch was killing it. But by God, I can change a starter motor quick as a hiccup now. Because...idiot. Undeniably the dumbest thing I've done. Ratchet shifters will get you every time... |

Clearly, HE should have known it wasn't a noose, especially given that: "In a Thursday conference call with reporters, NASCAR President Steve Phelps said investigators conducted a thorough sweep of all garage areas across the tracks where NASCAR races. That's 29 tracks and 1,684 garage stalls. 44 of them are at Talladega. Phelps said they found only 11 stalls using a pull down rope tied in a knot. And only one was tied into a noose – the one discovered in Wallace's garage." |
