Thoughts on the new kickoff rules

Mine so far:

Butker shorting kicks is like driving a Corvette on a gravel road

The NFL made something so simple-so confusing

Going into the season with the attitude of "We will just have to see what happens. There are scenarios we have not thought of yet" is the stupid thing I have heard in football. It would not be a good business plan, or educational plan. But but it seems that is how everything is approached today.

Roast away.

I think you will see a lot of touchbacks even with the new rule

It’s stupid. I bet it’s one and done (the league is testing it on a one season run)

Pat McAfee mentioned potential issues with guys leaving the line early, and how much are they actually going to enforce that in big games.... I could see that being shitty.

Besides that.... meh, unless every drive is suddenly starting at the 40 or midfield, who cares... and it's better than the pointlessness of touchbacks.

Actually paid attention. that's a plus.

I think there's opportunities to make some big plays. We'll see how Toub calls them during an actual live game in a few weeks, but I'm cautiously excited.

IMO, its the worst thing to happen rule wise in the NFL in recent memory. It seems like it belongs in the XFL rather than the NFL.

I really don't like it. I don't like that the players can't leave until...um...the ball hits the ground? Just really awkward and it also decreases the value of a good kicker who can boot the shit out of the ball. Just have the same rules as last year and move it 5 or 10 yards back. That would actually REWARD having a good kicker.

If I were the Chiefs I’d just kick it deep. If I was playing the Chiefs I’d play games and try to pin them deep.

I know this. If I see Toub ****ing trying to get cute and not ****ing kicking it through the uprights when we are up by 2+ possessions in the 2nd half I'm going to lose it.
