Leo for me. I think we’re just scratching the surface on what type of impact he can make. He’s super young for his class, an elite athlete, and very durable.
Cook and Pacheco didn’t come under much consideration… don’t get me wrong. I’ll gladly take them back. But Pacheco’s body is going to take a beating. Cook is solid at least, but I think Hicks has a chance to be our best safety since Berry.. or that first 2 years of Mathieu Watson has really broken out this year. But he’s on the older side, and I always go back to trusting Veach/Merritt with the db’s. And McDuffie is already a break the bank guy for this class |

I would NEVER sign any running back to a second contract unless they are special, and even then I'd think twice.
Cook needs to show me something before I sign him to an extension, especially knowing that I have Hicks and Conner under control for the next few years. Watson is a maybe, but I'll take my chances and let it play out. LB is is not only a position were you need to do something, but its also a place when I think you can do it and save money. Easy choice for me. |

Chenal can play DE as well so that makes him more valuable. But a good corner on a deal could be as valuable or maybe more.
Tough choice |

Of course, it depends on so much. It depends on the upcoming draft class, it depends on if the Chiefs are bringing back Justin Reid. It depends on the Chiefs bringing back Nick Bolton.
Right now, I think you have to lean Pacheco, given that the Chiefs have very little at that position and Pacheco is a legitimate starter. Chenal is tempting, but he's probably third on my list behind Cook. Watson is also valuable but you still have Williams, who isn't on this list for some reason. |

Chenal is the most unique member of that grouping to me, so he's my pick.
You can find a RB replacement for Pacheco, they have turned and burned at CB consistently, and Cook just hasn't done enough for me to go there. |

What exactly does or has Cook done to warrant a potential signing?

Jaylen Watson makes his case every week. He’s probably gonna price himself out of KC though

Cook is a good player with some ball hawk instincts but I would certainly feel confident our scouting team could identify the suitable targets in the draft to replace him by going younger and cheaper.

He's not really a ball hawk. That's his second career interception and he about Bennie Hilled it. He's solid in run support, though I wouldn't say he's spectacular by any means. Ultimately his best shot at staying here long-term was, IMO, replacing Reid. And I think Hicks probably has the inside track on that if/when he gets up to speed. From a pure talent standpoint, Cook has been layered. Both Conner and Hicks present better long-term options than he does. Primarily because he doesn't really do anything particularly well and doesn't have the sort of versatility that would make him a Jack of All Trades sort who can get away with just being average across the board. He's pretty much a dead-ass average starting safety. Which is fine. But not worth paying considering the alternatives we have to take care of. |

I know I already picked Leo.. but after seeing some Baldy clips of Leo from the SF game.. am I crazy for thinking he might be our 3rd best defender??
