Doubled here and still got in the QB’s lap

Like the inside turn to get back to the QB. He didn’t get washed out of the play.

Looking like the offseason work with Tamba might be bearing some fruit.

He's a 1st round pick. I think it's understandable to want to see more from him.

He should be supplanting Mike Danna by now.

Yeah, I would think so.

I'm always leery of taking a guy that early that needs a year of seasoning, but hopefully it works out.

Go look at all the pass rushers taken in that range last year and tell me exactly how many didn't "need a year of seasoning".

I'll wait...

If FAU and Karlaftis had switched draft classes, I’ll bet Karlaftis would have been given the redshirt year and we’d be asking questions of his capability right now while Felix was starting on the other side.

Needing reps is different than needing redshirt year.

We had the #1 defense in the NFL last year. None of those guys would've been on the field much either. You're being obtuse.

Exactly. This whole “debate” is silly and tiresome.

We weren't exactly loaded at DE though.

As far as 1st round pick status goes, I think we made the best of a tough draft spot in '23:

He was sitting there as a player at a premium position, a position of need (for '24 & beyond), a high-production player, with some questions regarding size and how he could transition. We also have a position coach that has gotten a lot out of guys. Oh, also, he was 21, and we know how Veach likes 'em young.

He flashed in the SB when called upon, which was exciting. He put in the work this offseason with George and Tamba. He's had a solid camp, and had some flashes in PS Game 1.

I'm excited to see him with Chris Jones and George as we get going into the regular season.

By the time Omenihu came back there was little to no playing time for a rookie with Karlaftis, Omenihu, and Danna. Omenihu and Karlaftis played liked two double digit sack guys while Danna was as good as a 3rd DE gets.

That's pretty damn close to "loaded".

This was a fun one, though it looked like a OL miss.
