You'd hire a guy no other franchise wants to hire as head coach?

Never mind the "fire Reid" part.

Correct.

It was a total organizational fail.

From the front office and coaching.

Dumb strategy AND poor execution.

The definition of "hottest" is not "completely moronic."

People need to watch the 2017 Chiefs when Nagy was OC. Alex had a career year and we went bombs away all year long

It's almost like talent matters

So NFL teams had his skillset valued at around 10 million a year for his prior level of competence. We knew he would be the #1 WR going into last year. There was no one we could point to this year.

Who is worth 10 million on this team as a veteran now?

No one.
I don't know about you specifically, but in the off season there wasn't a lot of love for bringing JuJu back at his market rate.

A lot of it no doubt had to do with concerns about his knee. A big deal, since Toney already came with big injury concerns and at that time he was expected to contribute when healthy.

If JuJu didn't have injury concerns, presumably he would have gotten paid more than 10 million a year.

In his first 8 weeks he totaled around 90 yards receiving. Sounds like a KC WR1.

He's had 13 games with less than 35 yards. I'm sure some of it is crappy QB.

It doesn't matter if you don't bring him back but if you let your #1 WR walk, you replace him.

They didn't bother and took the $$$$ instead and used it to buy defensive depth players.

How do you go into a prime SB contending year and just remove $$$ from a weak WR room?

How do you not even call DeAndre Hopkins? Football gods dropped him off for Veach as the perfect JuJu replacement and he didn't bother.

The Veach regime has been mismanaging the WR room for years and their own mistakes and errors all caught them this year.

Nobody's arguing that.

But the version of Juju in KC was a JAG. Not special. Just A Guy.

The rest of the group should not have had a big problem in year two of the offense picking up the slack. The fact that they all collectively regressed to completely unplayable is bizarre.

That's his production from Christmas Eve up to the Super Bowl against the Eagles last year. I'm sorry, but he absolutely wasn't this core piece that we just can't function without. He was fine in the Super Bowl for that one drive but that was about all JJSS provided as far as being an impact player for a month and a half at that point.
Rice’s route tree is almost exclusively bubble screens.

When the Chiefs try to use him on more downfield routes, he hasn’t been able to produce… see last week.

That’s the difference between a rookie WR and a veteran.

No one is suggesting the Chiefs should have brought back JJSS to be that veteran presence… but to not replace him with another veteran WR (DeAndre Hopkins) was an epic fail by Veach.

If it were just one guy you could see it as an outlier. It's the entire room sans Rice. They are all remarkably worse than last season. It has to be coaching....right?

If only they could have seen what was right in front of their faces the entire offseason and into training camp instead of heaping too much faith (and by extension, pressure) on to Mahomes and then hoping for the best.....

Someone made the comparison with our receivers this year to what happened against the Bucs in the SuperBowl and how they completely revamped everything in one offseason. We'll see if it happens that way again, but I have my doubts with all the potential quality departures we're facing on the defense.

The KC version of JuJu was worth 10 million a year.

What other veteran on this team is worth that?

They needed to replace the money with someone else as a vet. They didn't even try.
