With four games left Rice has a chance for 1000 yard rookie season. He needs 337 yards in four games. The last three games he's averaged 81 yards. If he averages 85 yards a game he makes it.

I seriously doubt it. Ertz might not be in his prime, but he knows how to line up, run routes at a much higher level than Gray, has better hands, and understand how to read a defense, both pre-snap and mid-route, and consistently get open. Those intangibles alone would put him ahead of Gray before he ever put on a game uni. But like I said, it's a moot point; we're never signing Ertz. |

Dude. Ertz has no athletic ability left. He's on the verge of retirement. He is not a better player than Noah Gray. Blake Bell probably is more athletic at this stage of their careers.
Ertz cannot help us in any way, unless someone gets hurt. Ya'll need to stop this madness. Gray has had a solid season as a limited target option. He's even able to get deep once in awhile. Ertz is just a dude you dump the ball to. You folks look desperate. That's the only reason you think the Chiefs should sign Ertz. Madness. Absolute madness. |

Hey, okay. it's a purely hypothetical issue right now. I believe that Ertz, a multiple Pro-bowler, 1,000 yd receiver, with 11 years experience as a starter, is probably still better than some backup TE who's never had a 300+ yd season. Ymmv. It's cool. But we're arguing about the pros and cons of astroturf since we'll never really know what he could do here. |

Looking back on that thread is hilarious. None of those clowns will ever admit how wrong they were, but it’s still fun to revisit.

We can try to blame it on mahomes or coaching or cap. The fact is the chiefs thought this unit was good enough and they were wrong. They bet on guys who they had lots of scouting on and bet huge on guys they had seen every day in practice. They saw Toney and skyy in practice and bet on those 2 guys being our top 2 WR options. They had plenty of info to recognize their limitations. If we knew there was a hole we wouldn’t have hesitated to bring in a bandaid. This wasn’t a resources issue. This was misreading our WR room and putting bets in the wrong places. It’s a forgivable mistake. But I wish we’d stop dancing around the obvious conclusion that veach made a rare miscalculation. |

I preached PATIENCE early in the year, as growing pains were to be expected. It's week 14, and the entire unit has regressed. The time for patience has passed. It's clear that they missed big time on Moore, and Toney is apparently a headcase. Rice is the hit, but as a rookie, that's not been enough. and MVS has gone from a serviceable deep threat to unplayable. James missed most of the season and it's probably too late for him to catch up; he was almost certainly Skyy Moore insurance. Things went bizarrely. Drafting and developing weapons is still the right choice over paying market price, and if they had simply not been historically bad, we'd be cruising. |

Drafting is a long term answer. When you have a Super Bowl ready team however… when you don’t have the answer you bandaid. We did it last year with Dunlap and again this year with omenihu. We did it this year with Donovan smith. These guys didn’t ruin the development of karlaftis or wanya or FAU. Even worse because rookie WRs can find reps in lots of different ways. We didn’t bandaid WR because we were overconfident in our WR room. It’s shocking that we’re treating 1-2 years at $10m like it’s some kind of backbreaking deal. We scouted Toney all year and wholeheartedly believed he was wr1. We scouted on skyy and banked on him being wr2. Hell the two outside free agents we brought in are Kafka guys so we had intel on them too. We had more than enough info to raise concern. The regression isn’t bizarre to some who saw that problem coming a mile away. Imagine that… a roster with no wr who’s even remotely sniffed 1000 yards is having trouble targeting their WRs. |

You and others never understood the concept that past production does not necessarily equal future production, and when you have a bunch of first, second, and third year guys, you have to project based on your scouting and coaching what you think they can do. Things went about as bad as it could have gone. Yes, we know, you would have signed Hopkins. Good for you. Nobody's dancing around the fact that things have gone poorly, that Moore has done nothing, that the entire room outside of Rice has been a huge pile of shit. There was no reason to think that would be the case. There was no reason to assume they would ALL suck ass. Nobody's dancing around anything. I preached PATIENCE when you guys were going nuclear meltdown after the Lions game. We're week 14 now. The time for patience has passed. |
