****Our Wide Receivers Suck- Official Thread****

They can’t get open, they drop passes in their hands, their jet sweeps are slow and terrible. These guys are not good.

Not sure what the design of this play was but it certainly didn't have Rice and Kelce together at once.
Does it matter, though? Their routes both break right in front of Pat. He doesn’t even need to turn his head to look from one to the other.

This read should have been simple and certainly didn’t require Mahomes to be able to read the entire field.

That’s the part I struggle with. I still would’ve liked to have seen a different route adjustment by skyy on the rpo but as I looked it seems more a mahomes mistake than skyy. But despite that out of 7-8 targets we still had Watson and Mvs screwing up their routes. So 25% of Mvs/Watson/skyy targets were messed up route adjustments. And that seems consistent even when we expand the sample size.

And I’m not sure how much coaching can fix this. I get that you can watch game tape but these just feel like instinctive, quick processing things that you either have or you don’t. Rashee makes some mistakes but not nearly as many as the vets and you see him more often than not learn from them. That to me points to an instincts issue versus coaching. Future priority for WRs I would hope is to bring in guys with football iq. Find some athletes to play specific roles but we just need guys who can run the offense.

Yes, it matters. What you are asking for is not how QB reads work.

If Rice was the 1st read then he could have hit him on the slant you wanted. He was not.

Because reads don't work like that.

Looks to me like he should be reading the safety, once he drives on Kelce, the back of the endzone is open.

After Mahomes read Kelce and decided it was not open he saw the space and took off.

So whether someone is open later is irrelevant.

Ya'll are just wrong, straight up. Making it seem like he was wide ass open is just wrong, he wasn't.
Nah.

Again, he stays with Kelce too long.

Once the safety commits there, the space is open. Once you see Rice open, it's too late.

It's in the redzone. It's gonna take some anticipation. He one read it and took off.

That's a problem.

Maybe you can offer to help Andy Reid with play designs and on field personnel since you seem to be an expert.

Bill Walsh tried to replace Joe Montana with Steve Young after two Super Bowls.

It happens to everyone. Fortunately we have no Steve Young and Andy Reid isn't dumb enough to try to replace Mahomes.

They'll work through this.

The problem is you dont want to see it, and if u do, u wont admit it. Cuz $50MILLION QB needs to do it all and stuff.

Mahomes is hesitant... period. I love Pat, but has to trust his instincts and his receivers, even though they don't necessarily deserve trust. This is what a GOAT does... and I think he will.

From within the 5 yard line, you’re just going to have to anticipate and throw into some tight windows if you want to get the job done once the field gets crowded down here.

If the 50 million dollar QB can't make that throw, it's a probelm.

He can and has, so I don't know what the problem is with expecting him to.
