[Florio speculates about] Raiders and Ben Johnson as HC

AFC West has to be the division with the best coaches, right? Andy, Harbaugh, Payton, and now potentially a gifted player caller in Ben Johnson...

Quote:
There’s currently no other destination that fits. Johnson has interviewed with the Raiders, Bears, Jaguars, and Patriots. The alignment he wants doesn’t exist in Jacksonville, and likely isn’t in play with the Bears. Unless the Cowboys (who blew their window to interview Johnson at any time before the Lions’ season ends because they didn’t interview him via Zoom last week) make a late run, it’s the Raiders or the status quo for Johnson.

More and more people in league circles believe it will be the Raiders.

Yeah I hope they get him. Great OC but has never been a HC and thinks he can make any QB work in his system is a recipe for failure. I hope they get him I love when that fan base gets pumped only to be crushed. I remember they thought they were something when they traded for Adams

Until he goes to LV and then that will be the biggest mistake. They don’t have a lot of talent at the moment and they will be competing against one of the greatest HCs ever along with two really good ones. That’s gonna be a huge hill to climb and I am genuinely curious about how long he would get to make it work.

I am by no means defending Johnson here, but to think that Jayden would be this good this quickly is probably a product of hindsight.

But hey Sam Howell could probably be available.

very curious to see what impact brady has on the raiders if he's gonna be involved like he's been recently

i mean if he can help them get ben johnson i'd say that's a good sign for what brady can do

Oh God. If that's actually true you cannot give him control of personnel.

No it’s that he didn’t even consider LV until Brady talked to his agent and fired Telesco. Brady’s influence is getting him in the door and possibly hired. A huge step up from where they were.

I do agree the guy is gonna have a rough go of it if he takes the job

Remembering how Ben Johnson dicked around Washington last year… and it turns out he may have missed out on a great available HC opportunity… coaching Jayden Daniels, a historic franchise coming back to life under new ownership, etc.

It would be fitting if Washington knocks him out of the playoffs this weekend.
