My parent's next door neighbor was a Plymouth Fury fan. He had a 1962 Fury with the 426 Hemi. When he bought a new 68 Fury III with the 426 Hemi his eldest son got as his first car the 62. Both those cars were fugly but man could they fly. It is generally considered the first American muscle car.

Ended up with a blown head gasket on a trip when it overheated from one of the fans quitting. At one time I was considering sticking a small block mopar in it. |

Further clarification, kind of an obsession of mine for a very long time.
The 426 Hemi was introduced only as a race motor in 64 and 65, then the "Street Hemi" was available in 66 "B bodies" Coronets and Belvederes for the general consumer. |
