Yeah, just look at his social media and how he talks. He has no interest in leaving Mizzou. The one and only thing that is even a little concerning is that he's from Penn and he's visiting Penn St.

They have confirmed that 150+ high school recruits will be going to the game. There are several recruits that have already committed that will be there.

Didn't Nwareni take a visit to OU after he'd committed to Mizzou last year?

He's already heard everything from them though. They were in his top 3. I'm not remotely concerned.

We've had several highly rated guys come through, but then leave because they got absolutely no chance and have to sit behind Basic Brady. He's the most average QB to ever play. He's never gonna win you a big game and he's had wayyy more bad games than good ones.

With that being said I think Zollers is coming to MU and really does just want to go to that game.
Name 'em.

I mean, Gabarri Johnson would seemingly be as close as anyone there's been (surely you're not gonna bemoan the loss of Jake Garcia; kid's out there playing shitty football in the American Conference for East Carolina...).

And I liked Johnson. A lot. Insane talent; great legs and a really live arm (even if the accuracy was spotty at best). But he wasn't a top 200 national player, he had an okay offer list, but nothing fantastic by any means.

If you really squint, you could maybe call him a 'highly rated guy' but there's been by no means 'several'.

Obviously would rather keep him than not, but it is what it is.

I read somewhere that Mizzou is dead last in the Power 5 in 'catchable ball' percentage. We kill Pyne (and we should, he's laughably awful) but that's still a Cook stat.

He's just been god-awful this year. And we've said it virtually every game - even when he's 'on' he's missing balls left and right. It's not the OL, it's not the receivers. He's just regressed something awful and he's just playing terrible quarterback.

No reason to expect any real changes on that front at this point in the season. Last season was clearly fool's gold.

Sucks.

I think about the best sales job you can put on a QB right now is that when Cook was simply decent last season, this team was a tough out. Don't let Cook convince you that this program can't win with you - if anything he proves that it CAN. Because it's having an okay season even with him being one of the worst QBs in major college football this season.
Supposedly he should be back at 100% in 6 months. It was just a bad ankle sprain. Like really really bad.

The only thing that I can think of is that Drink is an egomaniac/smartest guy in the room and isn't going to ever admit that he's wrong about something.
Like I said with Skyy Moore - I think sometimes we understate the value of "I really like that guy..."

And I think Drink just really likes Brady Cook. Likes the story and the perseverance. I mean in a vacuum, if that guy could've taken us to the playoff, he'd have been an AWESOME story. Local kid, Mizzou fan his whole life, was never seen as more than a backup and battled his way into relevance. Played hurt his first year as a starter, broke out the next year and then in his final year, made the leap.

That's a story that as a coach or hell, as a FAN, you'd just love to see. And if you like the guy, you're going to hold onto that possibility like grim death.

I don't think there's anything nefarious here. I think he just wanted this story to go a certain way so badly that he's spent the season trying to will it into being. And when Horn went down and now that Pyne looks like shattered ass, he doesn't really have anywhere else to look anyway.

It sucks.

I guess we need to hope really hard for the return to health of Sam Horn and a really nice season of development from Aidan Glover.

His ankle was stuck in the wrong position. That's a dislocation.

But with good rehab (and the glories of youth) maybe next spring/summer is a realistic expectation for him.

But he's not 'Start as a true freshman' good either way, IMO.

Tyler Macon was a 4 star guy in 2021.

Sam Horn 4 star didn't leave, but he didn't get an actual shot. Idk how UCL injuries occur, but maybe if he's starter, then he doesn't put much time into pitching and have TJS.

Gabarri Johnson was a 4 star guy. He was the #22 QB recruit that year.

Jake Garcia came in as a 4 star transfer and he's starting at East Carolina and you'd have to think his stats would look along better here with a competent team around him.

I guess if you don't want to say "highly rated" that's fair, but 4 star guys are usually pretty sought after. I could have said a few instead of several. All of these guys were more highly ranked than Brady Cook who had an offer list of

Mizzou
Austin Peay
Lindenwood
Southern Illinois
Arkansas State

Meh. Far more concerned with the staff and subsequently the players completely rolling over and dying in two of the most important games of the season.

That's the world I was looking for dislocation.

One of those games I can't blame them really. Most teams fold after getting ass raped by the refs on big plays. The Chiefs did it too in the Super Bowl.

Oh c'mon - we all saw Tyler Macon.

Go to the past threads - we saw Tyler Macon and we laughed hysterically at Tyler Macon. That kid, athletic as he was, was a TERRIBLE quarterback. He makes Anthony Richardson look laser precise.

Tyler Macon would've ended up behind...anyone. He couldn't throw a football. That's not someone that left because Cook was keeping him from getting a fair shake. That's a kid that wasn't ever going to be a starter in Division I football and anyone with eyes knew it once they saw him in action.

As for Horn - I just don't agree with you. We got him largely BECAUSE we were willing to let him pitch and play football. That was a part of the deal. He's pitching at least last season with or without Cook. And that's how the injury happened.

Jake Garcia has 12 ints to 8 touchdowns and a 60% completion percentage. He had a 59% completion percentage at Miami. He's not good. He's, at best, Brady Cook with a better Rivals rating out of high school. He's probably not even that.

Bottom line is still that a lot is riding on the emergence of Sam Horn - just as it was when we first signed him a couple years back. NOTHING has changed in that regard. With Cook, without Cook, none of the guys that have left are guys that are guys we're going to win anything meaningful with. Johnson might've made things pretty interesting this season but I also have to ask why a Redshirt freshman with 4 years of eligibility and a graduate student QB in front of him felt the need to leave. He's not starting at Oregon State either - so why do we just presume that was a Cook thing? Seat was gonna be open next season and this season he's getting as little/less run than he'd have gotten here.

You're just overplaying your hand here, IMO.

They also called back a 75 yd TD pass to Burden because of a ticky tack illegal man down field penalty. It's either tied or were up by 4 instead of being down 10 points at that point and may end up a completely different game.

Dude was almost 5 yards down field and not engaged with a defender when the ball was thrown. That's not ticky tack, that's just a really unfortunate penalty.
