It is, but it's also kinda stupid to be throwing the ball backwards on 3rd down.

IIRC, the one that Rice missed his block, it was 3rd and 4 or 5 and McKinnon catches the swing route like 7 yards behind the LOS. So now he has to gain 11 or 12 yards to get the first down.

And to make matters worse, the playcall was a one man route. McKinnon was the ONLY option. On THIRD DOWN.

Just doesn't seem like great situational football.

Same exact group of WRs we had last year, except JuJu for Rice, but yea, no way we can't expect them to at least get back to where they were down the stretch last season!
It definitely feels different, I think Kelce is right that it's probably as bad as this Reid-Mahomes offense has looked.

Maybe it's the OTs, maybe it's IOL regression, or WR regression, maybe it's Mahomes being a little off or the playcalling. Whatever the cause/s it "feels" like there's more to work out. If they turn it around it'll be even more impressive than winning last year after trading Hill imo.

I don't see how getting back to last year's level would be "impressive". I don't understand why that's so unrealistic. It wouldn't take THAT much.

It's probably 'a little from column A, a dash from column B, a pinch from column C,' etc.

And I think we can include "opposing defenses have figured out how to defend 12P/13P," which were the formations Andy ran the most (over a third of all offensive snaps, iirc). According to some analysts, the efficiency from those formations has declined steeply from last season.

For example, last season when KC ran 13P, their EPA was 0.35. This season, it's been 0.03 from 13P.

I legitimately wouldn't understand how he couldn't given Skyy's performance to this point.

Otherwise the exact same.

Exactly. Plus the WR's who were expected to step up, have not. In fact they have regressed.

#8, #9, and #10.

#8 (Lions) are closer in PPG to the #28 offense (Falcons) than they are to the #1 offense (Dolphins).

Even throwing in "for the most part" is harsh realtively compared to what Andy nomally says. You usually don't hear an ounce of crticism from him.

It's either regression or we asked to elevate their roles and maybe they are built for spot work. Toney was lightning in a bottle last year, not an every down option. Skyy was used sparingly. I think mvs and Watson are about flat vs last year, which is to be a boom/bust option that can disappear in stretches.

For now we need rashee to keep progressing and we probably need mecole to bandaid a little beyond his gadget role, and that should hold us over ok. But as megatron mentioned, defenses are way better at defending our 2022 look... Overall, not just for us, so we gotta adapt too

Miami is only that far ahead because Denver gave up. You realize that right? An NFL team giving up 70 is a team quitting on a retread Coach mid game

Okay, take out the Denver game. Miami is still #1, but not by as much. In this case, the best offense the Swifties have played (#8 Lions) is closer to the #19 Commanders than the #1 Lions.

The #19 Commanders who dropped 31 twice against the Eagles defense who everybody loves to slob?

So they're better than a solid offense that has had success against a great defense twice...
