****Our Wide Receivers Suck- Official Thread****

They can’t get open, they drop passes in their hands, their jet sweeps are slow and terrible. These guys are not good.

Or if the QB is looking for Kelce the whole time when a WR is wide open straight down the field with nobody there blocking his line of sight.

Mahomes holding the ball too long is on him. There's WR's open.

No, they are not... Pat is missing guys, in his progression, or he is looking at Kelce too much and not getting to his other reads. Look, he may not trust these guys, and he has two new tackles, but Pat is off and inconsistent this year. This should be great news, vbecause as in the past when he has struggled, he gets it going again and usually at a high level for the rest of the season. Relax. We're good.

The reason Mahomes is holding the ball is because the WRs are not getting open.

Once he starts running you can't count WR's that separate after 5 seconds while he's twirling in the backfield.

WR's are open, period. Stats posted in other threads, and watching the All-22 show they are open. This explains Reid and Veach basically saying they are staying with our current grouping of wideouts, they see that Pat is part of the problem as well and Pat always figures it out...

Also, open is a step or so of separation, we aren't talking HS wide open in the NFL.

I'm watching WR's get open on All 22 right now. Do I need to post pictures?

I'm guessing that Mahomes isn't all of a sudden dumb or not able to go through reads so it seems like maybe he doesn't trust his receivers so he's just trying to find Kelce who he knows will make something happen?

I think this could possibly be true, but that's not an excuse to not throw to open guys and be tied for the most Picks in the NFL? Pat will be fine, but he is part of the problem now.

Who among Toney, skyy, mecole and Mvs is catching a ball with a step of separation.

Mecole is only catching a wide open ball. Mvs continuously gives up steps because if it isn’t in stride he waits for the ball to come to him. Skyy misses his spot by several steps because he doesn’t make the right adjustments. And that’s all assuming they hit their spots. If they miss their spot then mahomes will be off by way more than a few steps. Mahomes doesn’t anticipate these guys open because he has no idea where they’re going to be. When they break open, he isn’t expecting them to be there. There’s no chemistry on scramble drill. Our top WRs just don’t have instincts.

Other teams have tens of catches a game with zero separation. Because they have at least 2 targets who know how to go up and get the damn thing.

Would you say that this year has been an outlier in terms of performance and production for Mahomes compared to past seasons when he had better WR’s?

If yes then the problem primarily is with the WR’s.

It is a trust issue. He doesn’t trust them and he has great reason not to.
