*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****
IT ****ING HAPPENED
OP UPDATE: Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy! Last edited by Dante84; 05-17-2017 at 09:40 AM.. |

It's risk/reward I know this but this is something I haven't seen in being a fan for 3 and a half decades so I'm going be super homeristic because this is fun for me. I want him to develop into being the Super Star we drafted him to be it doesn't happen overnight and I know he has a long ways to go and I know he may struggle to get there and for all I know he could be a bust but for right now he is who and what we drafted that looks like he is going be everything we dream a quarterback should be. I sure don't expect him to play this year even though I think he can handle it but I don't want him thrusted out there unless coaches think he is ready. I'm not coaching him so I have no say just having fun wishful thinking and speculating. I don't know if Patrick Mahomes II is going bring us Super Bowl glory or not but that's what we drafted him for. He sure is a better looking answer than retreads that have failed us unless you are happy with the 2 playoff wins in the last half century? |

Win total in Vegas is 9. I would not touch it with a ten foot pole if I was betting. Either way. IF, it happens that the Chiefs are approaching the under side of that Vegas betting line, I think we see Mahomes for two or three games to close the year since he will most likely be the starter in 2018. I do not think 2 or 3 starts will harm his development. In fact, if this scenario plays out, I think 2 or 3 starts enhances his development. |

I've always been a "sit him for a year" guy. But I am trying to think if there is good evidence to suggest that does anything. I get Aaron Rodgers is the obvious example, but outside of that- who?

Be that as it may, the whole QBs sitting and learning for a year+ is not standard operating procedure by NFL teams anymore. That's all I am saying.

That may be true but you look at someone like Goff and you think maybe they should.

Here's what I think: maybe Mahomes is ready to start right now. If he is he'll be that much better when he finally does start. We as fans lose nothing having him sit and he's going to sit so there's no use really even discussing it.
In the meantime Captain Checkdown can win us some games and have a playoff run. No I don't think we can win a Superbowl and frankly that's fine. The only way I'd be upset is if they sit Mahomes in '18 as well. That's a bridge too far. I disagree with all this Mahomes needs at least two years bullshit. Perfecting footwork is only necessary when you rely on footwork to make throws. It seems Mahomes can make all the throws without it. But I digress, he isn't starting in '17 so drill away and prepare in case Alex is injured. |

Mahomes could be ready now. He could be ready in 2018. He could never be ready. I am just tired of hearing people claim they know when he will be ready and know what is best for him. You dont. I dont. Know one does. |

It really is that simple, and since we don't need to start him right away, we shouldn't. |
