Thoughts on first preseason game

What did you like and not like aside from the ST’s new kickoff

Like:
-Jaden Hicks is already the 2nd best safety on this team. He looks awesome
-Punt God is an upgrade
-Even after a few plays you could see Worthy’s speed press the defense
-Liked Nic Jones ball tracking ability outside. He’s better than I thought
-Run defense was very good
-Steele might have made the roster. He looks really good and needed on short situational downs
-tackling needs work but it was backups

Didn’t like:
-FAU is gonna be a rotational player on passing downs. Big improvement as a rusher, still got mauled on run plays
—We are going to miss Sneed. How much? That remains to be seen
-we’ll miss Gay’s speed. That was evident tonight
-Nourzad and Hanson have a long way to go. Rough night for them

anything else?

Pretty sure he went 4-0 in his 2-14 year. Or maybe that was the Romeo 2-14 year. Can't remember.

I thought him and Niang did well. Both were solid in pass pro.

Hanson has nasty playing style but definitely needs to get stronger

Nourzad did better at center than guard

Caliendo had a bad snap and is soft still

Godrick has come a long way but still has a bother offseason at least to go.

Last year the starters played the entire 1st quarter the 2nd game vs Arizona. Starters took game 3 vs the Browns off.

Cant say I agree, tough to put too much stock in the running game with how the backup line played. He made a nice catch and is just a much better athlete than CEH who offers no speed or Power

Do we think the Chiefs would entertain using FBs and 12/22 personnel? I wouldn't want a full time fullback but it's a nice wrinkle if you can get a power back who can also play some fullback.

I was a little worried about that with the loss of Gay, it seems that Leo Chenal was routinely picked on during coverage. I like Leo as a "Thumper" role well, but to ask him be a coverage guy is a big ask since I feel he doesn't have the speed to be a good coverage player.

It is my understanding, as long as Andy is still the HC here, the FB position will not go away. I think of Steele as a potential H-Back, who can do both the TE and FB positions (similar to maybe like Blake Bell), and not a "traditional" FB like Sherman.

Gay's speed was missed for sure.

I thought Godrick looked like he doesn't belong in the NFL. He was abysmal.
