****Our Wide Receivers Suck- Official Thread****

They can’t get open, they drop passes in their hands, their jet sweeps are slow and terrible. These guys are not good.

The way he is being used is… barely at all.

Nine targets in four games.

None of those players count. The only thing that does is what we do with 2nd round picks that are WRs. And because we drafted a couple guys who have underperformed (though Hardman barely did), they don’t have much value. So lighting them on fire or keeping them and actually drafting a WR are basically the same thing. Of course, these same people are enamored of 2nd round pick Rashee Rice but whatever.

Oh, there was more than a couple three in the other thread before the season started. They know who they are.

Part of the blowback I got when I predicted that Skyy having a good season would look like about 500-550 yards (what's he on pace for?) and that he wasn't going to get near a grand, and MVS would not become a legit WR2; that he would basically do exactly what he's been doing for his entire career (.

But that AFCCG just got people's blood up or something, and I was told pretty emphatically a few times that MVS was going to be a legit WR2, and push 1,000.

Some dope said that MVS was going to increase his catch rate to something over 60%? And catch 1,000 yards in 60-odd receptions?

Btw, you know what happens when you drop that one 54-yd catch (and any zero-yd catch)? Crazy as it sounds, but Skyy's average depth of target/YAC, so his average yds/cth drop to right around 11.6 yds/cth, give or take a few tenths of a yard.

Or, pretty much exactly what I predicted before the season started. Almost the same as last season (11.4yds/cth, 2022)

Actually, I think I gave him 10.25 or 10.5 yds/cth for 2023, but whatever. Way closer than 23 yds/cth, or 16 yds/cth. Which is nice, ya know, considering that Skyy hasn't caught a single ball at either 16 yds or 23+ yds of depth this season. And he might still prove me right, if he catches more than 35 balls. No doubt his yds/cth average will drop into the mid-10s like someone planned it.

Fancy.

That.

I mean, whodathunk, huh? Mathematical results that actually inform you as to what really happened on the field, instead of giving you a pair of values that don't tell you anything about reality . . . So weird how that happens, right?

Got it. So you're not actually going to provide the 1 person, maybe 2 who said that. You're just going to pretend that you were right and everyone else was wrong when that wasn't the general consensus on any level. That's cool.

I remember when Skyy made the team last year out of training camp and you were telling people how he was doubted but YOU called that he would make the team. You were really proud in telling people that a second round WR would make the team out of training camp when other people doubted him.

Now THAT was funny. Crowing about a second rounder making the team out of training camp. I'll never forget that one. And that sort of experience just might color how I view your delusions otherwise.

Skyy's going to be a top-tier slot receiver before too long, mark it down.
Please regale us with more of your takes where you nailed it.

That’s probably the max. And only because if it works out… we let him walk for a similar pick in the next draft as a comp or re-sign him. I’ve always liked him and thought his skills would make him effective in this system.

Hardman went to the Pro Bowl as a return specialist. And had a big return in our first SB playoff push.

I feel like that is worthy of saying he was worth a 2nd round pick.

And, I am sorry, but that MF could run a jet sweep 1000x better than anyone on this roster, except for Toney, and he probably runs it twice as good as Toney, and when Hardman makes his cut up field, he is mooooving.

When Toney cuts up field on the jet sweep, my honest thought every time is please don't blow out your knee. Toney has one of the most unique cutting, planting, juking styles ever, and his knees always look like they are about to blow.

When folks really sit and take a look at the numbers, it's shocking to find that since coming to KC Andy has only had TWO receivers who have gotten a thousand yards in the regular a season. And that is Maclin and of course Tyreek. If we include the playoffs then Juju got a thousand yards but when you look at the other guys like Hardman, Pringle, Robinson, Wilson, Conley, Watkins etc all of them averaged around six hundred yards a season.

We now have seven guys and they are talking about "spreading the ball around" but maybe it's just the reality of Andy's lack of WR development since he's been here? We've produced one stud in ten years. That's simply not good enough.

One more stat is since Andy arrived outside of Tyreek and Maclin the most one hundred yards games a receiver has got in their career in KC is two!!..and that was Juju and MVS last year.

It's gonna be very interesting to see how things go now with these new guys.

Your point still stands. This offense has run without that primary receiver most of the time.

Of course a large part of that is we’ve had the best receiving TE in NFL history.

My thing is - one of these WR is fixing to break their dick off inside the NFL, I'm not sure who yet, I'd guess Rice.
