They can’t get open, they drop passes in their hands, their jet sweeps are slow and terrible. These guys are not good.

How do you think Dolphins fans feel after seeing their defense get destroyed yet again? That team is a mess, and all their hopes and dreams rest on the health of a young QB who has proven he can't stay healthy.

The Jags? Total disaster right now offensively. They added Ridley; and somehow got worse. Lawrence is not playing well, and their defense has been playing above their talent level to start the season. They should be thriving.

The Ravens are playing good football, but we all know what happens to Lamar when playoff time comes and he has to do it agaisnt the best defenses in the AFC. Nothing has really changed there to make me think it's different this year.

Then you look at the NFC. The Eagles defense is nowhere near as good as it was last year. That same Washington offense that struggled against the awful Bears D last night dropped 30 on the Eagles Sunday. Their offense hasn't been as dominant this year either. Like last year, they're benefiting from playing in the weak NFC so far.

The 49ers are the only team that looks like they should maybe be favored agaisnt us a neutral field, and I'm not convinced they should after the best down we put on them last year with a similar group of WRs.
The only legit separator we have at WR is Toney and it's 50/50 if he's injured. I like Rice a lot but man coverage isn't his game.

I would look for a guy that can separate at WR bc we need another one of those.

And before you say it, no. Skyy is not the answer.

We are far enough along in the season that we can quit with the experimentation. And go balls out on the right depth chart. Relegate skyy. Stop putting Watson on the field at the same time as Mvs. More reps to rice. Stop saving Toney for the end of the season and see what he can do now.

I’d still like to make a move. Skeptical we find a tradeable star, but veach has pulled his magic with the value bin before. But at the very least I think everyone regardless of their stance on the wr room agrees that the above needs to happen to our current depth chart

Trading for a WR in-season last year worked pretty well… not sure why some people are so stubbornly against making a trade this year… when the need is greater.

That's really silly. If we lose players we don't need other players. If we had not added Juju and Toney we don't win the SB last year.
You think Toney and Juju were the keys to the SB championship last year? Makes sense that you'd keep spewing the same nonsense over and over again. What vet WR do you think does anything to help?

Is that a serious question?

Did you watch the Super Bowl?

JuJu had 4 catches for first downs, and drew the game deciding defensive holding penalty.

Toney had a TD reception and a 60+ yard punt return.

No one in this thread is against it for the right player at the right price. Toney for a compensatory 3rd and a 6th was fine. But hey, what do you know, that guy doesn’t seem to be able to produce as a receiver in the way we wanted and now we are being told we need to replicate that formula.

If Claypool were a player the Chiefs wanted in the locker room, they would’ve traded for him.

But Hollywood Brown or whatever else? Are you giving up a 2 for him? And if so, are you sure that’s not something any other team in the NFL would give up because we have the lowest round-by-round priority? And are we sure that he’s going to come in and develop immediate chemistry with Mahomes and be the missing link that “ensures” a SB win?

No. Not a "key".

But sub in Skyy Moore in the 2nd half for JuJu and we lose to the Eagles.

I am sure that giving reps to Hollywood Brown over Skyy Moore and Justin Wason makes our offense much more dangerous.

So the alternative is to stay the course and hope that the likes of MVS and Skyy Moore magically show dramatic improvement in their production that they haven’t consistently shown in their 24 previous games as Chiefs?

Hope that Toney stays healthy during the stretch run?

Hope that Rice or Ross develop enough to help replicate the missing production from what JuJu provided last year?

You find that stay the course scenario less risky than aggressively trading for a WR?

The only WR I believe is "developing" is Rice. But enough with the kid gloves. If they think Rice is an answer this year play him 80% of the snaps NOW against the junk teams we will be playing in the next month. That way if the plan is to save money for 2025 or whatever we know if he's going to do it for us this year.

Same with Toney.

Without hesitation.

We drafted Mecole and Skyy already and have nothing to show for it right now on the field, had we hit on either maybe its another conversation.

Yeah, I don’t give up a 2 for half a season of a guy who has topped 770 yards receiving once in his career.

I think that’s a poor way to sustainably build a team over time. And I’m not convinced we get him and he’s the missing link that dramatically improves our odds of winning the SB.
