You've typically heard this from people who were making excuses for Skyy Moore.

It doesn't. Andy Reid isn't the only HC in football who utilizes complicated passing concepts. And many of those other HCs have rookies contributing. Reid himself has gotten significant contributions out of rookies both in Philly AND in KC, including from Rashee Rice this season. Not to mention the immediate contributions from Toney last season.

No, it doesn't take 2-3 years to produce in Reid's system. It just takes talent.

Sorensen and Niemann are super bowl champions. So is Demarcus Robinson. Your point is?

If Hardman was such a fantastic player, why wasn't he a coveted player in free agency? At a time in the NFL when receivers are at a premium and constant underachievers like MVS can get a 3 year/$30 million deal, why is someone like Hardman only able to get a 1 year/$4 million deal?

Who said 'fantastic player'?

He's a field stretcher. He has a limited number of ways he can impact the game but those ways require defenses to account for him.

He's a gadget that not every team can use well. THIS team can.

Put the crack pipe down and join us all here on planet Earth. I'd give up a third rounder next season and a future 3-4th rounder based on performance.
If we can get away with a 2nd I'd do it. I realize folks like you don't watch that guy but he's incredibly talented and the Falcons are wasting him o a QB that sucks ass and won't throw downfield.

Find me one game in the past 2 years where the Chiefs WRs were creating that kind of separation.

That’s fair. Hardman still has a role here. Not a fan of the draft pick, but what’s done is done and at this point I’d probably rather have him than MVS or Watson.

Maybe they just don't want Hardman back - which seems odd given that they clearly intended to make him a focal point of the offense in 2022 before he got hurt - but 'a couple months ago' they thought Skyy Moore was going to be able to step up and mitigate the loss of JJSS.

He hasn't been able to. It appears he WON'T be able to.

So set what happened in the summer aside. Hardman's one of the few guys out there who might be available, who fits under the cap and can IMMEDIATELY step into the system with a complete understanding of how it works.

Why WOULDN'T they be interested in him?
Bingo. People are going to be singing a different tune after watching us try and keep up with the likes of Miami in the coming weeks. Trading a late conditional pick for a guy who, at this point, would easily be the best and most dependable WR on the roster, would be a no brainer. You're not going to find anyone else to come in here and help immediately like he could.

As far as trading a conditional pick, we have no idea if KC tried to keep Mecole, they very well may have, and he decided he wanted to go make a name for himself outside of KC thinking he could do more. He's certainly been humbled if that was the case and I'm sure regrets his decision, even if they offered him a little more money.

I mean I'm not giving up hope just yet, but man, I need to see something this week or it's going to start getting worrisome.

I noted that a trade for Hardman would be like the Ingram trade.

"Why didn't we just sign Ingram when he was a free agent!?!" well we couldn't afford him. But by letting the Steelers sign him and pay his signing bonus, we knocked 2/3 of his cap it off our cap and onto theirs.

We traded a 6th round pick for cap space. There are worse ways to use those.

If a trade pick trade (or equally likely a late round pick swap) puts Hardman's signing bonus on the Jets cap instead of ours - bully. That's a fine use of the pick.

I’m not the biggest fan of Veach but I’m fairly confident he wouldn’t make that same pick today. I do admit he has grown a lot as a GM, even if he can’t draft WRs worth a damn.
No way were planning on taking a WR in that spot if it weren't for the situation... If Tyreek was suspended or cut the wolves would have had Veach's head for not trying to fill the need that this would have left. At the time, most thought Tyreek was probably done...

I don't know about giving up a first for Pitts, but his production is being significantly impacted by the shitty QB play of Desmond Ridder.

Did you see the 2 touchdowns by Toney and Moore in the SuperBowl? That type of separation isn't created by the skill of the receivers. It is created by scheme or by defensive lapses. Receivers in the NFL aren't typically wide open. If they have one step on their defender they are considered open.

yep edited the above when I searched for his contract. That would make it much more palatable, but I think we think we are fine. If we add in the yards for the drops, and they become less frequent, I think we will be fine. I wouldn't be against it though.

Like I said, I'm willing to give it a few more weeks, but if we don't see some progress we absolutely have to bring in reinforcements at the trade deadline, and he seems like the most logical choice.

I'm still not ready to give up on these guys, but man I need to see more in a hurry.
