the Chiefs were among the league leaders in using 12 and 13 personnel. With Kelce getting older I see them utilizing it a lot

You can't replicate Travis' production via one dude, you try to get it from a few sources.

The possibility this is Trav's final season feels a little more probable now.

This keeps gray here through wileys whole contract now.

I wonder if they expected more out of wiley or if they see gray as a te1 when travis leaves.

Seth Keysor mentioned that in his film review he noticed Kelce was always coming off the field for a down after a play. Last year was the beginning of the decline.

Love the dude to death but he’s about to be 35. He’s only gonna be here for 2 more seasons max IMO.

Even with Wiley it’s nice to keep a guy they like at a good price point. They aren’t spending a lot on the kid

I'm guessing he could be a starter on another team and they're preparing for Kelce to hang up the cleats for the next chapter in his life.

In Veach I trust.

I just don't get anyone who thinks this isn't a good retention.
Usually guys like Noah Gray are 1 contract dudes you replace with a cheap player in the draft. So it's kinda odd.

Whoa now, the TE position has kind of exploded across the entire league, Noah Gray could probably compete for a starting job on some teams but it's not that many.

Thats exactly what this is... when Kelce goes in a year or two, we'll still have two starter quality guys

100% speculation but I think this is Travis' last season. He's set for life and turns 35 next month.

Riding into the sunset with a 3 peat (fingers crossed) is iconic and can't ask for a better way to stamp an epilogue on a career.

This is a good move.

That seems a little rich. However, I love love the idea of him being a TE3 with Wiley as TE2.

I'd wager he'd be a starter on well over 50% of teams but really, he's playing for the team everyone would want to play for right now. Getting paid well to do what you love by the best in the business and with comradery and success isn't work at the end of the day.
