I know this. If I see Toub ****ing trying to get cute and not ****ing kicking it through the uprights when we are up by 2+ possessions in the 2nd half I'm going to lose it.

Would you? That would be great. Imagine all of the shitty new kick offs I can see after I'm 14 beers in. I can piss myself multiple times.

Just give them the ball at the 30.

Will getting the ball 5 yards closer make a big difference on whether they score with that possession? I'd bet the data says no.

I assume we are seeing the worst possible outcomes for this at the moment, teams are still learning and also won't want to put any tricks/aggressive return strategies out there in training camp.

I think I like it so far, assuming it just gets better from here. It's actually a play where something can happen and is worth watching unlike kickoffs previously.

The ball is live and has to be returned, but if you kick the ball out of the side then its a penalty and the other team will get it at the 40, so there's no incentive angling too far for a corner.

The data says starting at the 30 rather than the 25 is actually very significant for an offense.

I don’t like anything that potentially takes the ball out of Mahomes’ hands more, which this rule change likely will do. Any increase in the importance/influence of special teams on game doesn’t help this team as long as we have the best QB in football.

Exactly. That was why I was not a favor of this new rule. It increases variance and a shitty teams ability to beat a far superior one.
