They can’t get open, they drop passes in their hands, their jet sweeps are slow and terrible. These guys are not good.

Turns out they were. Mahomes just hadn't convinced himself of that fact so he tucked it. I suspect he immediately regretted the decision to hit the triangle button and pull down the passing icons there.

EDIT: I also wonder if he didn't lose track of where he was on the field and wasn't sure if he'd gone past the LOS. Hard to say. Definitely a strange looking play and as noted, not one we usually see.

Our sweet boy isn't playing his best football, for sure. He's looking decidedly average out there.
Right, and that should scare the rest of the league as we sit a 3-1 with a capable defense...

That was my thought. I think he was probably worried that he was past the LOS.

The other is that while we can piece together a few instances of missing open guys we also have too many where nobody is open. Or at least his first 2 reads aren’t. When you don’t trust your guys to get open you stare down a read, you bail early, or sometimes you just throw up something dumb.

We need to clean up the mistakes and our offense needs to get guys off the field who aren’t getting open so we can maximize the drives where at least one guy is open. Then give mahomes a few games of stability with the same cast so we’re not changing it every 5 snaps.

Eh.....he's sucking up the cap space he is he needs to play better.

If he's not playing at an elite level, we're losing value. It's a hard ask of a guy, but thems the breaks.

The funny thing is ESPN has him graded as #4 in their QBR metric this season. If that’s not good enough, there are a bunch of other teams that are in deep trouble with QB’s being paid big money and underperforming.

Hadn't even thought about it, but this is the last year of his rookie deal and they're already 54 mil over the cap for next year. It would be wise to deal him this season. Doubt they'd send him to KC, but if it's their best offer, who knows.

He's 24 and actually has another year next year, the 5th year option.

He's ranked top 4. That's pretty darn good for what he has to work with at WR. Not many QB's could do that.

He also has a top 5 defense and a top 3 OL in the leauge, the best TE and a top 10 RB.

I mean, sure, I'd love to have it all but salary cap be damned?

The same people bitching about the WR's now are the same ones who were bitching in 18/19 about the defense and in 20 about the OL and in ....etc

Seems a bit off.

Here's the truth...

We're building a well-rounded team for continued dominance, we need to secure CJ this offseason and we'd like to bring back Sneed & Gay. Probably let MVS and Reid walk, but for the most part we'll keep the team together and continue drafting well, but there is some money to play with next offseason if we get creative and a we'll probably be in the market for a vet WR to replace MVS's $14m contract. If we can find a trade partner now, that'd be even better but I doubt we'll break the bank for someone like say Devante Adams. Find a guy on a 1-yr rental + the option to sign to a reasonable contract in the offseason feels like a potential winning solution if we can't get more spark out of the current group but its not like we're losing.

Would you feel that way if the two OTs were blowing every single block? He’s gotta get better, but his WRs have to do the bare minimum. Catch the ball, hit your spots. It doesn’t take an elite WR to do that.

When one unit doesn’t do their job he’s going to adjust and do a lot of things he wouldn’t normally do. If his blockers don’t block he’s going to bail or rush his passes. If his WRs don’t do their jobs he’s gonna stare or bail too quick. Can’t ask him to carry 400 lbs on his back.

You keep saying this.

They kinda do. Financially, this is what it is. They've built him an OL, they've gave him a defense.

The stuff about the WR's is just shit. They aren't a great group, but they've got guys getting open. He needs to play better.
