They can’t get open, they drop passes in their hands, their jet sweeps are slow and terrible. These guys are not good.

That being said, it was nice to see better chemistry between Mahomes and the younger receivers like Moore & Rice in this Chicago game. It's hard to read into it very much given they were playing against a really bad Chicago defense. The Jets defense will provide a much bigger challenge next weekend and it will be interesting to see if the Chiefs offense can put together a high quality performance.
I wonder if he was just trying to give jos guys some juice saying that to give them more confidence, or he genuinely believes they're that talented. Cause like you said, thats a bold statement.

Maybe.

I mean, Pat thought CEH would do well, and he also thought Skyy would do "big things" last season.

But my guess is that he's just talking up his WRs, because that's what vet QBs do when talking about their young/unproven WRs.

I’d take him from NY on a “swap of 2027 7th round conditional picks” type trade…but for Veach to have never even offered him a contract probably suggests he’s done here.

Mahomes will always compliment his teammates. That was the case in college even when the Tech defense would give up 60-70 points. Mahomes would blame himself and always say positive stuff about the defense.

So far it remains to be seen what will happen with the skill position group this season. We'll see if everyone involved (including Mahomes) can put together a more consistent offense than we've seen so far. It will be pretty cool if they develop into a pretty lethal unit by December.

I agree with everything, up to "lethal unit."

As long as Travis is 100%, we don't need lethal. We need only as good as last season's JAGs.

Lethal meaning good enough to drop 30 points on any defense in the league, even with a QB on a gimpy leg. They did that in the Super Bowl against a supposedly great defense.

The main thing I want to see is consistency with picking up first downs, avoiding turnovers & penalties, etc. Bears game was a step in the right direction, but it was against a terrible defense and there's still plenty of room for improvement by everyone involved.

What I know is that if one guy had a 100, and another guy had 63, you'd feel better about the offense, when in reality, 4 guys combining for 163 is literally the same - and in fact, diversity in distribution is beneficial in many ways.

Meh, they weren't great in the SB. They weren't terrible.

Literally, they were 11 catches for 81 yards, 2 TDs.

PHI, with a running QB, went 216 yards/16 catches, 1 TD.

But if that's the plan then as long as this year's WRs do what last year's group did, great.

Didn't he say the deepest wr room? That's different than most talented offense.

IIRC, he was talking about the WR corps and he said it may be the most talented group he’s played with “top to bottom”, which is an important distinction.

Hill and Watkins are clearly better than our 1 and 2 now, but we’re much better 3-5 (or 3-7 if ya wanna get technical) now.

Just listened to it again. “Top to bottom this might be the most talent I’ve had on offense, but it’s going to take some time. It’s on me right now. I have to simplify things and make better decisions.”

Evans left the field early last night in Tampa.....Clearly he's not happy.

Even if KC doesn't do it, kinda feel a move coming there. What woudl that take pick wise?
