I liked Bateman coming out

Could see Veach being interested as he was a high pick that never fit the team who drafted him.

The Cardinals have their pick and the Texans; both teams are 1-2. The Bears have their pick and the Panthers - both teams are 0-3. And both teams look just as bad as Arizona or Houston. In fact both might look worse (seriously, HOW did Carolina think Bryce Young was a good idea????)

The Bears rolling out Williams, Harrison Jr and DJ Moore next season would just be a hilarious juxtaposition from where they are this season.
Talking of Carolina...Shenault? Feels like a good Veach reclamation project. Was quietly decent last year, big-bodied YAC type was his college eval. Seems unlikely but i wouldn't hate it if they decided they can't get value from him playing and need to either burn it down or stack picks for weapons.

Shenault is Codarelle Patterson v2, it's gonna take awhile but eventually some team will realize he isn't a real WR... just throw him screens some handoffs and he'll make some plays.

Yeah, don't like Shenault here.

And even though I like Bateman that isn't a move for this year.

We would need to bring in someone like a Hollywood if it was about adding firepower for the playoffs.

He'd be an great Edwards-Helaire role replacement...a few carries and targets a game...screen game, shovel passes etc.

I would sacrifice losing to the Broncos once this year and missing out on HFA if it meant they get the 3rd pick and miss out on Williams/Maye

Re-watching the game. At the very beginning, Erin Andrews said Mahomes told her that this might be the most talented offense surrounding him in his career. Seems like a really generous statement. He had a more explosive Travis Kelce, prime Tyreek Hill, prime Sammy Watkins, prime Kareem Hunt in 2018. His LT & RT were pretty great as well.

That being said, it was nice to see better chemistry between Mahomes and the younger receivers like Moore & Rice in this Chicago game. It's hard to read into it very much given they were playing against a really bad Chicago defense. The Jets defense will provide a much bigger challenge next weekend and it will be interesting to see if the Chiefs offense can put together a high quality performance.

I wonder how much of the bridge is burnt for Mecole Hardman. He’s buried in NY.

Before the injury, he was actually looking pretty good. His contract is peanuts and he can take those jet screen snaps from Skyy/Toney and make them lethal again.

I’d take him from NY on a “swap of 2027 7th round conditional picks” type trade…but for Veach to have never even offered him a contract probably suggests he’s done here.

What do you think might have caused that strategy on the Chiefs side of it?

I’ve talked to him a couple times and he immediately comes off as a stupid human. Mahomes gets frustrated with him because he quits on routes, goes oob to avoid contact, doesn’t adjust his route correctly based on coverages and until his last year here, was strictly a gadget player.

I think he could flourish in a limited role in KC doing things that play to his strengths, but likely had a stupid inflated self image when the 2 sides talked, leading him to have a limited FA market where he ended up taking a peanut contract.

Now that he’s humbled a bit, I could see him loving going back to his old role in KC…forcing teams to respect his speed.

It’s not going to happen, but I think it would be good for both sides to have the conversation. NY obviously has no need for him in this dead year.

Yeah, he seemed to be in the wrong spot with his route-running a lot of the time. Pretty strange. Seems pretty clear the Jets don't think much of him so far.

Superficially, the WR room performed at about the same level as they did in the JAX game. About the same total yards (163 vs. 150?), 15 vs. 13 receptions, about the same number of targets.
