Crazy.
Again...it's Andy's bread and butter. Yet he's doing it this way. Two games in.

The defense was shitty early in the year, got better as it went on and was playing well by the end. "It's because they played the young guys".

Yes, and they're playing the guys now as they're ready to play.

Cool, we have talent. ABSO****INGLOUTELY WE DO

Cool, Andy refuses to play them over trust issues.

The offense is struggling, why not struggle and have these guys learn at the same time?

Or maybe, just maybe - the offense ceases to struggle with our most talented players playing more of the snaps?
You're talking out of both sides of you mouth here.

On one hand, you are clearly implying that the WR room is garbage, specifically even worse than last year, by calling it "unprecedented".

On the other, you're talking about Rice, but it's in no way with optimism that he can emerge as the season goes on. You're just complaining about his role 2 weeks into it.

If you truly believe in Rice, you should take Veach at his word that he will become that guy as the season goes on. They've made it very clear that they have a plan, and what that plan is.

The offense as a collective effort has absolutely shit itself at every opportunity. Here's how the game started:

Drive 1-MVS has first down, goes backwards. Punt

Drive 2-Smith hold on 3rd down. Punt

Drive 3-no drive. James return botch

Drive 4-Watson fumble

Drive 5-Mahomes bad INT

Even with those mistakes we could have scored 24 if we wanted. As for new guys, I think Andy is easing them in. That's just what he does. In another month Rice will get around half the snaps. That's what happened with Skyy

Lets ask the question.

Jordan Addison, Zay Flowers and Puka Nacua have all had really good starts to their careers, had we drafted any of those guys would they be seeing more than 15 snaps a game or look the same as they do on their current teams?

I don't believe that's the real number.

My understanding is that there are other piggy banks the chiefs could get into if needed.

Otherwise, if 2.5 million was the hard limit it would be irresponsible roster mgmt to go into the year with such a small number with no established #1 or #2 WR.

19 combined career starts between James and Watson and no more than 7 starts in a single season for either player.

That's on the minimum end of "starting experience".

Well....yeah that's the number the NFL has reported, so seems pretty real.

They could move money around, but that's probably unwise in that it makes guys tougher to cut later when they're older.

He called the WR room "unprecedented", my response is that it's the same group as last year minus JuJu, but with more young talent.

How about you stop with the ad hominems that you cry about when they get thrown your way and tell me what i said that was wrong?

Oh that's right, you can't, because the irony is that you're the one incapable of having an intelligent conversation.

The difference between me and you is that the ad hominems are just extra, and I can actually address points.

This is unprecedented territory.
You would've said the same thing before last season as well. That would've absolutely been defined as "unprecedented territory."

No one is doubting that JJSS at least had some experience and that was beneficial. But the fact that he's been relegated far down the depth chart in NE tells you that perhaps this team and scheme made JJSS more than he might be on most teams. And that should give you some level of confidence that this stable of WRs with this QB and this coach can figure things out.

As for Rice, I'd like to see him on the field more too. We all would. But I'm also willing to trust whatever plan Reid has to for him as he's seen a lot more about what Rice is and is not capable of than we did in the limited sample size in the preseason and out there through the first 2 games.

I was much, much less confident before last season that the offense would be functional at a high level than I am about this offense's ability to bounce back for the rest of the season. The proof of concept was significant and the personnel has barely changed.

You really struggle with reading. The level of experience in the WR room during this 5 year championship run IS unprecedented.

The talent is there. Can Toney and Ross stay healthy? Who knows.

But there is ABSOLUTELY talent in the room with Toney/Rice/Ross.

A 2nd round pick shouldn't need to "emerge" into a role unless he's buried on the depth chart by superior talent.

That's not the case with Rice, and I could argue with Ross as well.

Again, Mecca and DJ pretty much nailed the "why" this is happening.

"Same group as last year" minus the WR who led all WR's on the team with 78 catches for 933 yards receiving... i.e. that's not the "same group as last year".

It is pretty god damn weird that Rashee Rice needs to earn snaps over JAGS. It's not like this is Seattle where Njigba is legit behind 2 very good WRs.

Put the talent on the on the field, that's that.
