It’s hard to say who to compare Mayfield with. He’s probably not that far off of Alex Smith. He’s been pretty good in both games against us, but he’s had 3 chances to beat us in the 4th quarter in those games and he’s gotten 2 first downs combined and has yet to get past midfield. With those weapons on offense and the OL that they have, you have to expect more out of your franchise QB if you’re a browns fan.

Yup. 33 points allowed on 8 possessions is atrocious

And just think the Browns scored two of their touchdowns by going for it on 4th down.

It was their first game together and they gave us problems for more than a half. That never happened for any of the playoff game last year. Patrick diced them up from the very start.

They did give up 33 points but their punter ****ed then over with that miss. Put them in a very bad spot.

They’re not the 85 Bears but they are look like an actual defense capable of stopping someone this year

That's not a characteristic of Mayfield at all.

They're similar in their athleticism, although Smith was faster.

Mayfield has a much better arm than KC era Smith.

Mayfield didn't lose that game, he played plenty well enough to win. He wasn't able to WIN the game, as in take it by himself, but you know, he's not Mahomes.

That doesn't mean he's Tannehill, for ****'s sake.

I think people are unable to see any shade of difference anymore. There's a LOT of tiers between Mahomes and God status and pedestrian game managers.

Mayfield is NOT a game manager.
I think he's a system qb. He does what Stefanski wanted out of cousins but much better. Actually a pretty good fit because hes mobile and is good throwing in either direction. I do think a lot of his success is from Stefanskis creativity in opening things up for him so that reads are easy. But it does take a specific type of physical talent to pull it off.

In the end, as most people say... If he has to press, while baker isn't bad at it, it's not where he's at his best. But it's also not a lamar situation where he's totally out of his depth.

Again, I don’t see how you could say that with any kind of certainty based on a game where we punted twice.

Cleveland is legit, but Mahomes is Mahomes. Browns would've beaten anybody else with that performance. They're legit.
Punt fumble happened before Baker’s last opportunity to shine, and it doesn’t matter if the pass was tipped or not (lest we forget that Baker was also scrambling around like a chicken with its head cut off before said INT)

I think Baker is a good QB, and the Browns are a very good team not unlike the Alex Smith Chiefs teams…..I just happen to think that Baker will continue to hold them back.

This is now 2 consecutive games for the Browns where Baker had a chance to win the game, and couldn’t seal the deal. He needs (and has) a ton of help around him, and still can’t come through. I don’t compare him to Alex Smith because of style of play, I compare them because they both can’t seem to put a team on their shoulders when they need it.

Baker is a choker. When the game is on the line he folds like one of those shitty metal chairs they use in elementary school for parents at the PTA meeting.

He folded last year under the pressure and he did this year.

He's damn sure gutsier than Smith, no way Alex would've attempted some of those tight window passes yesterday

Baker and Mahomes were put in the same exact situation...trailing the entire game with a chance to take the lead towards the end. (AFC divisional and yesterday). Mahomes brought his team back...Baker went 3-and-out, yesterday, on the most critical drive...and gained 12 yards in 5 plays in the playoffs.

If they play again in the post-season...Chiefs need to get the ball first. Mayfield is a different QB when playing from behind...the whole vibe changed.

They need to keep him in that situation...where he presses.

He's like 3-20 when trailing at halftime.

Since the 2019 Titans game, the Chiefs D has stopped every team trying to drive late in a close game, except the Raiders in both games last year. Raiders had 8 point lead and made two first downs in KC to run out clock and Raiders scored TD in LV, before Mahomes drove team for win and then Chiefs stopped Raiders.

Chiefs have good end of game defense under Spags with one score lead or less, since he does not play prevent and calls exotics that do not have an obvious hot outlet for the QB. Chiefs plays tough, physical D at end of game.

Maybe the Chiefs end of game D is being underestimated by the Mayfield critics in this thread.
