Chiefs claim Eric Scott (DB, Dallas) on Waivers

[Note - Curtis Jacobs landed w/ NE]

Quote:
The Cowboys traded up to select Scott Jr in the 2023 draft.
- Scott had highly athletic traits coming from college and developed his skills from year one to two.
- Even though he had a bad penalty against the Rams in the preseason, he showed the ability to bounce back and be in perfect position for an interception in the same game.
- Scott Jr allowed a 53.2 passer rating in coverage, 4th best on the Cowboys among all secondary players.
- Scott should land on his feet quickly either in Washington with Dan Quinn or back in Dallas with the Cowboys.
- In the video below, Jon Machota points out Scott Jr had four PBUs in one-on-one drills just 5 days ago.

Like he's in quicksand?

I mean ultimately you have to assume it was just a bad day, slow track or he was hurt.

Because a 4.71 CB just won't play in the current NFL, IMO. There's sub-optimal speed and then there's THAT.

4.71 is rough for a safety. It's disqualifying for a CB.

Appears he pulled his quad running the 40 the first time and pulled up down the stretch for that 4.7.

Latter efforts put him in the low/mid 4.4s.

Okay - that works.

That time just didn't make sense. You don't have those kind of explosion scores and run that slow. Figured there had to have been an injury in there.

No, I'm saying watch his tape. His top end speed is really good, but perhaps not elite. His quick movements in coverage, though, look really solid.

I'm not sure any of his tape looks like quicksand, fortunately.

This makes a lot of sense. I've wondered why some draft hopefuls don't just rerun the 40 after the combine and promote the updated results to teams.

I’m sure they do that with teams.

Whether the draft gurus substitute in the alternate times in RAS evaluations is another matter.

They will, but they aren't 'official' times, so all you get are leaked times that are semi-trustworthy.

I suspect the Cowboys got him to run for them and got a time in the 4.45 to 4.55 range and that's what got him drafted.
