Thoughts on the new kickoff rules

Mine so far:

Butker shorting kicks is like driving a Corvette on a gravel road

The NFL made something so simple-so confusing

Going into the season with the attitude of "We will just have to see what happens. There are scenarios we have not thought of yet" is the stupid thing I have heard in football. It would not be a good business plan, or educational plan. But but it seems that is how everything is approached today.

Roast away.

What does the data say? What is the % chance of scoring starting on offense at the 25 as compared to starting at the 30?

I think there is a website that predicts by week 8 most teams will be kicking it out of the end zone.

I will say, very honestly, that I haven't bothered to watch any videos or read about how it works, all the rules, etc. and for some reason I don't really care to.

I've seen a chart on it, back around 2019 or 2020. Iirc, from the 25 the average NFL offense had around a 45% chance of scoring a TD. Percentages went up the closer the team started to the EZ, went down as they started farther away. Inside the 20, I think it was under 20%.

This is not the chart I remember but it has additional information, and kind of addresses the topic:
https://phdfootball.blogspot.com/201...d-scoring.html

The article I read had a football field chart, and you could move the 'ball' up or down the field and it would calculate the average success% of scoring a TD. If anyone else saw that one and knows where to find it, please post.

I will give Toub some credit in the sense that our special teams have been really good in the Super Bowls....but complete shit any other time pretty much. I don't really get it
