Karlaftis is a fun matchup with Kingsley.

GK is a bear to deal with. Not in that Myles Garrett sort of way, but just as a physical player that will beat on you for a bit.

Athleticism isn't a concern with Kingsley but technique can be. And George has developed some pretty good hands these days. He's a guy that can teach the rook some things.

Like to see that.

Show's nice timing.

I think the most impressive part of that clip is actually McDuffie. He has to respect Worthy's speed and clearly does but as soon as Worthy makes his cut, McDuffie drives on him.

That's a play where, if the timing isn't pristine, really bad things happen. In a maelstrom (or especially in a varied coverage look) that can get a little hairy and if that ball isn't on time, McDuffie would've been right there to drive on it.

Sometimes you tip your cap to the offense - this is one of those times. But the most impressive player in that clip is 22, IMO.

I really can't get over how good McDuffie's change of direction is.

Call it confirmation bias if you want, but look at how well he does that there. He's turning to go downfield and immediately gears down, stops his momentum and gets right back onto Worthy's hip. That's a remarkable play, IMO.

It's really pretty shocking how quickly he vanished on this squad. I mean seemingly any addition to the roster immediately jumps ahead of him. A guy like Prince sure appeared to be ahead of him on the depth chart last year.

I still feel like he's a guy who simply never took the opportunity seriously enough.

You can already see the strides Kingsley has made in just a couple weeks. He's the LT of the future (and present).

Yeah, Worthy isn't a perfect WR, obviously why he went at the end of R1 - but he's doing everything you hoped to see realistically at camp.

With this scheme and Mahomes, he's going to be instant offense even if it's just like rookie Mecole Hardman catching a 50+ yard TD every other week.

Compiled notes from training camp - 08/07

Last day of practice before the preseason game on Saturday. Full pads again today.

- Chris Jones and Kadarius Toney again didn't practice today. Jones seems precautionary and an added bonus of giving the vet some extra rest. Toney was at practice without a helmet. With his supposed position on the WR depth chart, Toney's time in KC might be coming to an end.

- Wanya Morris suffered the first serious injury scare in camp today. Went down on a play and seemed to be grabbing at his right knee. Players on the field knelt as he was being looked at by staff. Morris was then able to stand and walk off the field on his own power. Walked on the sideline testing the knee. After about 30 minutes he was taking reps again in one-on-ones. Hopefully just shaken up from banging his knee during the rep. Morris seemed to not to want to leave practice or go to the medical tent for examination. He's still fighting with Kingsley Suamataia for the LT job and probably knows he can't afford to fall behind any further.

- Jon Gruden watch is on day 4 now. He's been at camp every day since showing up. Andy Reid has said Gruden is just visiting. Purely speculation on my part, but Reid will want to set Gruden up with a job on the coaching staff and Gruden is at camp to see if its a good fit. Reid and Gruden are old friends since Green Bay, no one appears to want Gruden in the league, and Andy is big on second chances. Could be totally wrong, but its worth keeping an eye on.

- Kingsley Suamataia is like a different player since the start of camp. He's adjusted to the power and speed of NFL edge rushers extremely well. He was losing the majority of his reps against George Karlaftis and Mike Danna at the start of camp; I didn't see him lose a single one today. He's improving fast. Great player to up his game in such a short span of time, and also great coaching by KC.

- Mecole Hardman with one of the best plays of the day. Deep catch down the sideline during 11s. Even had to make the catch through good coverage. Showing some of his best stuff today. He's in a dog fight with Skyy Moore, Justyn Ross, and Nikko Remigio to make the 53 man roster. I could see any combination of 2 or 3 of these guys making the team. Expect all four players will bust their asses to try and make the cut.

- Unfortunately for Hardman, Justyn Ross probably did have the best catch of the day. Deep shoulder fade that he caught in tight coverage against Joshua Williams for an over 30 yard touchdown. Real impressive looking. Offensive players came off the sideline to gas him up after the play. Ross appeared to have said something to Williams after the reception, because Williams took offense and tried to get his hands on Ross. They were quickly separated and went their separate ways.

- Fabien Lovett has been an interesting UDFA to follow. Quiet but solid camp for him. Not a stud, but he flashes every practice and is a hard worker. Massive body and can win inside with a rush. He's on the bubble for a NT spot. The four ahead of him are Chris Jones, Tershawn Wharton, Mike Pennel, and Neil Farrell. Out of those four, his best shot to make the 53 man roster is getting a spot over Neil Farrell. I'd give Farrell the edge due to experience, but its a low key battle to watch in the preseason.

Hollywood is the one really blowing me away. He just looks so damn smooth at all times. He moves like a guy who is 1200 yards waiting to happen.

And because of the plethora of other great pass catching options, he probably doesn't get there. But whatever he does get, it's going to look really ****ing good, smooth, and consistent.
