-- Horror films you may have missed - suspense, thrillers also okay here...

I'll start with a few.

-The Invitation 2015 - Karyn Kusama

- Dead End 2003 - Fabrice Canepa / Jean-Baptiste Andrea

- They Look Like People - 2015 - Perry Blackshear

I'll add more as we go along here, I have a gazillion to mention - I'd like for some of you to wow me.

yeah - agreed. I can see where it would turn off some people, as the pacing and storytelling was way outside the normal horror formula.

To me, that was a good thing.

Great performances too.

Watched The Hive last night. Thought it was pretty damn good. It’s more of a mystery/thriller with horror elements and imagery. Def don’t watch it at dinner, but worth your time IMO.

Gotta give 'The Perfection' a soft pass.
Watched it due to word of mouth about crazy twists and turns, but it underwhelms.
It's one of those shows that depends heavily on the zigzags in the narrative, but even knowing that it falls into the thriller/horror genre leads any fairly competent viewer to see much of it coming.
It's bold and brash, but it doesn't actually develop much past the pitch.
It's not horrible or hateable, but don't expect to be overwhelmed or gobsmacked. It's just a mediocre thriller story updated and stylized.

40 or so years ago, it might have been somewhat revolutionary, but it's pretty tame for our cynical age.

Have to agree with your review. Watched it last night, and there wasnt any real big surprise moments.

Honestly, the vibe was almost like an episode of Black Mirror, without the technology angle.

It was decent at best.

Has anyone mentioned "The Creature from the Black Lagoon"? When I was a kid, we all collected those Universal Movies Monster model kits by Aurora. I had them all, I was about 12 years old and the CFTBL was my favorite. I could add real sand, some Spanish Moss, red paint to his claws for blood and paint the creature green with his gills yellow in front. Customizing the models was the best part, and sometimes going back and repainting and changing them.

What started me on this was when I was 7 years old we visited Silver Springs in Ocala, Florida about 25 miles from where I live now. We took the glass bottom boat ride, and of course they showed us where Johnny Weissmuller made the Tarzan movies, but then through the glass bottom we looked down and that's where 3 years earlier they made the Creature from the Black Lagoon, right there in Silver Springs.

Some of the Monster kits, the Creature is on the right, he could use some customizing

The glass bottom boats and what you see through the bottom

I was searching Netflix last night for something to watch and thought I would give Await Further Instructions a shot. It`s the kind of movie you will hate or love. I thought it was great. The last 20 minutes are WTF.
