Having another team pay him league minimum while Denver is on the hook for 95% of the rest really ****s Denver over.

We signed this POS yet?

He's got his money and when he gets cut, a bigger pile of money. He's still good enough to be Mahomes backup if he wants another ring.

We needed a backup 3 of Mahomes years due to injury. Maybe he'll want to rub it in the Donks face and chase another ring with us?

Technically any team can do this with any player. Just release them and let a bazillion dead cap dollars strangle the life out of your roster. They decided that was better than having Russ on their team.

They aren't out of it. They'll be feeling this contract for like 3 more years. They're pretty ****ed.

Well, it's pretty easy to see why they ****-canned THAT GM. There is literally nobody who could survive THAT sort of ineptitude...hold on...

Apparently I've been misinformed.

HARD pass. Nobody wants that stench bringing our team down.

I'm assuming they'll designate this as a post June 1 release, which means he'll have a $35m dead cap hit this year and a $50m dead cap hit next year. Basically, it's as if they have a top tier QB on the roster who never plays a game. It won't be pretty most likely, but if they could draft a young guy and develop him, they've got a shot at being competitive again...in 2026.
