How many times ... ? Let me think ...

Got it ... 19 times. That's how many damn times we've had the general punditry spout off and say that the next QB/RB/Team/Coach is going to put Mahomes and the Chiefs in their place.

You think we're growing weary of that narrative? How do you think Wally feels? He's going to parboil the Ravens and pluck their feathers one-by-one until they call their mommas. He's going to go full House of Usher on their heads in this game.

Just glanced at the Ravens depth chart. Looks like Pernell McPhee is their best pass rusher and he’s really nothing special. Where is their pass rush going to come from?

No way can they rely on coverage sacks against the Chiefs, right?

Judon is their best pass rusher.

You’re right, but he’s still only a 6-sack per year type of player. That’s nothing special.

It appears that they rely on the blitz in order to generate pressure, Mr. smithandrew051.

Too bad our quarterback is so terrible against the blitz.

Chiefs by three, I'd set the over/under at 60. The Ravens D is good but not great, not much better than Chiefs. Lamar is legit good and will only get better but he's not Mahomes.

This is going to be a very tough matchup. I won’t be shocked if we lose this one, if the weather is shitty.

The bad news:
Harbaugh and Wink call a good defensive game.
Erving is a crap run blocker.
We couldn’t run much against Oakland.
Our top 2 backs are banged up (but I do think Darwin is going to be the best of them, anyway.)
They have the best run defense in football.
Bad weather can limit the passing game.
Tyreek bailed us out numerous times in the last matchup.
Their offense is ultra explosive and we’re still early in the year struggling with communication problems.
They have this game circled after losing the last one in overtime.

The good
Jimmy Smith is out
We have a few good defenders at keeping guys like LJ limited in their options...Badger, Lee, Clark, Fuller and Breeland.
We should be able to scheme lots of open looks against them in coverage
They don’t have a guy to cover Kelce
Earl ran his mouth...so I’m sure Sammy, Kelce, Hardman and Robinson will be ready to challenge that statement about taking away the deep ball.
Thompson looked ready to challenge for the starting job before the team acquired Shady..he knows this is his time to shine. Should be able to have a big receiving game.
They haven’t played anyone good yet and this Chiefs team is truly unreal.

While I know Andy considers the run game secondary - I don't think he will rest on his laurels after last week. I imagine the ravens will be selling out to stop Mahomes and there could be some opportunities there. I imagine he'll have some plays ready to take advantage - maybe some draw plays etc.

OK I will play along. I'm sure this will sound Ravens homerish but I'm just going by what I know and have seen first 2 games.

On offense for the Ravens the Oline on the edge is very good, in the middle it could be very bad (not including Yanda). I don't see the Ravens having any issues on the edge, but inside with Jones could very well be another story. They always struggle with great interior dline players who can provide pass rush. If they are going to pressure Lamar, it will be up the middle in his face. I think Stanley will handle Clark, and Brown can handle Okafor.

In the backfield the guy we use as our fullback is a 2 way player. He plays Dline too and is almost 300lbs. Lot of times the will get him in motion across the formation and if he gets a block it is over. RB1 is Mark Ingram, prototypical downhill power runner who looks like he has plenty left. RB2 is Gus Edwards who is very similar to Ingram style wise. RB3 is Justice Hill...who is probably going to be the RB1 next year. The guy is just flat out explosive, but isn't really getting the touches he should as a rookie.

WR1 is obviously Hollywood Brown, who in 2 games has done more than any Ravens rookie in the history of the franchise. Crazy deep speed and short area quickness, and the easy wide open blown coverage TD to Andrews last week was not that at all....it was because the entire Cardinals 2nd/3rd level jumped on a fake to Brown leaving Andrews open by 15 yds for the TD. It looks like Brown is basically Desean Jackson. WR2 is another rookie in Boykin who looks good but is inconsistent...why he went in 3rd rd not 1st. But again for him even to be starting out of the box is odd, and he has responded well.

WR3 is Willie Snead, an average slot guy nothing special. But he won't kill you and makes a play every once in a while. WR 4/5 special teamers.

Tight ends are just ridiculous. Andrews is setting records week after week and it seems like no one can cover him. He is open all the time. And word is this is the guy the Ravens are the highest on out of them all, he is that good. 2nd TE is Hayden Hurst a 1st round pick last year who just can't get that many looks because Andrews is taking them all. He gets open, just tough getting any passes his way. 3rd TE is our blocking guy, but probably the best in game at what he does. Used as a 6th OL a lot and even can get put in pass routes too, he is our unsung hero on the offense.

Now to the QB. Full disclosure....I HATED the pick. I hated what I saw last year not so much in the passing dept (well that wasn't good either), but the ball security dept. He would literally be dropping back and the ball would fall out of his hands. Over and over and over. His fumble rate was the worst in the history of the NFL by a wide margin. We were just hoping he was *competent" back there this year and we would be fine. But I can honestly say I have never seen such a transformation over one offseason in a player. It is just unbelievable. Every ball used to flutter, mechanics horrible. No base just winging it and the accuracy showed that. This year? I've never seen a tighter spiral. I've never seen such pinpoint accuracy. He isn't just looking to run, he is going through 3...4 reads...then running. He has a nice wide base to throw from now and trust me if you go watch the film it aint the opponents causing this. It is a player who looks like it is someone else in his uniform, it is that dramatic. I am still in total disbelief. And if he runs....I mean a threat to take it to the house every time. He is so fast. Breaks off 15-20 yd runs from broken plays like it is nothing.

On defense the interior line is very strong. 2 absolute bulls in the middle in Pierce and Williams. Pierce gonna get a monster deal this coming offseason. Brought Pernell McPhee back who is our version of up the field interior pressure on passing downs, and he is playing great right now. Solid depth behind those guys in young draft picks.

Edge rushers led by Judon. Solid 8-10 sack guy who will never wow you but always consistent. Other side is any one of 3 recent high draft picks. Fergeson in 2nd last year, Bowser in 2nd two years ago and Tim Williams in 3rd. All guys with potential who haven't really had a chance to show it yet. But with Suggs gone getting opportunity now. Speaking of Suggs, the guy is a 37 year old average player now. His loss was nothing. HOF player on his last legs who can't make it past 8 games before he gets tired and production disappears.

Inside Linebackers have Onwuasor a gem of an UDFA find who is extremely solid, another "OK" guy in Chris Board, and a young 4th rd pick from last year in Kenny Young who is an absolute missile on the field. Now sometimes that missile gets shot the wrong way and is out of control, but he is a light cover/can rush too kind of player who can run with anyone.

The secondary is where I am concerned, and where KC is going to win this game if they pull it out. Had a top 5 slot corner Tavon Young who we just paid, tore his ACL in training camp and is done for year. Jimmy Smith who was in a rotating situation outside with Carr sprained knee in 1st game, he is out for a month. Still have boundary CB1 Humphrey who is one of best in game, Brandon Carr who is unbelievably reliable and solid at his age, and then some young guys behind them who are talented but inexperienced. If it was any other team but the Chiefs I wouldn't be (that) concerned, but I fear them spreading us out and it being hard to match up being down those 2 starters. If I was the Chiefs I would throw it 60 times. You could probably 15-20yd them to death if you get rolling.

Deep at safety have one of best in game in Earl Thomas and another very good player in Tony Jefferson. Been some miscommunication issues early on leading to big plays, so that will be something to watch. But man can Thomas cover some ground back there. Watch the film of his INT vs Miami, clear across field and makes play on other sideline flying through air in process. Also have a "jack of all trades" guy who is very good in Anthony Levine, who could be pressed into more coverage in dime if the Chiefs do spread it out. Very solid player.

Special teams.....I mean we have a top 3 unit every single year. Ravens make is a huge priority with Harbaugh ST background. Currently #1 on Football Outsiders rankings. Great punter and the best kicker I have ever seen. He only misses kicks when he slips, snap is bad or it is from 55 plus yards.....it is insane.

I don't have any idea who is going to win this game. It's gonna be 3-4 points either way. Obv at home Chiefs should have advantage, but if Lamar is on his game.....it's is going to be hard. Probably will come down to how many plays he can make. I know Mahomes will light it up as usual. Pretty confident Ravens defense will hold up as good as anyone will vs Chiefs and at least not let it get out of control. So it really comes down to what Lamar does.

30-27....someone. I got Ravens +6.5 and over 52 parlay and feeling damn good about it.

The idea of rain slowing down the passing game is complete bullshit. The advantage goes to the offense as he wr know where he is going. It is the defending team trying to react that is most likely to slip and fall.

I'd also take Mahomes over Jackson throwing in bad weather. Jackson is well improved, but he still misses throws - I'd expect his accuracy to be worse in rain and wind. Bit like Andrew Luck in the playoffs.
