Chiefs sign defensive tackle to 53-man roster

https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2024/...-53-man-roster

The Kansas City Chiefs made a minor roster move on Tuesday, just two days ahead of their season-opening game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Per its official X account, Kansas City signed defensive tackle Marlon Tuipulotu to its active roster from the practice squad. The defensive tackle had been added to the practice squad over the weekend.

Tuipulotu, 25, first entered the league as a 2021 sixth-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles. In three seasons and 28 appearances with the Eagles, the 6-foot-2, 307-pound defensive tackle registered 43 tackles (22 solo).

The Chiefs also brought cornerback Eric Scott back into the fold, signing him to their practice squad in the spot left vacant by Tuipulotu’s promotion. General manager Brett Veach put in a claim for Scott from the Dallas Cowboys at the 53-man roster deadline, only to waive him two days later.

Scott, 25, entered the NFL as a sixth-round selection in last year’s draft. The 6-foot-1 cornerback (with an 80 ⅛” wingspan) has the size Kansas City likes in defensive backs, and it remains to be seen if he gets the call-up at some point. It is worth noting that Scott is a native of Basehor, Kansas, and he played football at Basehor-Linwood High School prior to Southern Mississippi in college.

Big time.

The Ravens already ran the ball more than everybody else. The Chiefs beat the Ravens last year by spooking them out of running the ball.

The Ravens are going to run it a minimum of 30 times on Thursday.

Probably a good move.

Not a ton to learn at DT and if you're in the wrong spot, Bolton will walk up and slap you in the ass to move you over or something.

We need to upgrade the NT pool in a big way, IMO. Still frustrates the hell out of me that we lost Coburn to keep Matt !@#$ing Dickerson on the roster last season.

Much needed. Pretty telling that they've let Dickerson and whatever else the experiment was go.

Not even sure why they drafted Coburn, he isn't the type of Dl Spags likes at all.

But he is.

Spags is just fine with big fat guys at NT. Look at Nnadi. Ferrell is similar.

Coburn is a BETTER version of Nnadi.

We didn't draft the guy to be a DE or even a 3-technique. He was drafted as a 0/1 tech and then we buried him behind slag like Nnadi and Dickerson. We never gave Farrell a look either.

We have the weirdest of blind spots at NT. I don't understand why Nnadi is still here. Didn't understand it last season and didn't really understand it in 2022 either.

The guy is terrible.

The Nnadi thing makes literally no sense, I don't get it. It's also weird how easy it is to find NT's on the open market and even in the draft and we basically respond with ehh lets keep our Jags.

Without disputing your larger point here, Farrell did play in the Super Bowl.

Amen on Coburn, who looked solid at Tennessee. At some point they really need to put someone, anyone alongside Jones who isn't terrible. Coburn was a baffling mistake. I have absolutely no idea how he was evaluated as worse than Nnadi and the collection of turds we've used in his place

Well I guess no better time than tomorrow to see how the DL looks, will be interesting to see how things go. I'm not personally very fond of the work they've done on the DL but they've mostly gotten by so far and have clearly found a way to mask what IMO is still the weak link on the defense, so hopefully that will continue to be the case.

Edge play is more critical against the Ravens than IDL play, IMO.

Setting the edge, holding contain and forcing runs into the LBs (and keeping them fairly clean) is critical. All the DTs need to do is be big.

The Ravens took some hits on their OL this off-season so we'll see how things go there. Ultimately it wouldn't surprise me if they hurt us more through the air than on the ground. Or through conventional hand-offs to Henry.

I think the offense is gonna look quite a bit different for them this year.

Dont disagree but they look particularly bad up the middle. Vorhees? Falalele? Wasn't Linderbaum nursing an injury. If we get some joy I'd imagine it'd be there.
