How in the holy hell did Mahomes get entered into this discussion? Nobody gives a flying **** about college, especially when our team has been to 4 of the last 5 Superbowls.

Nix never is and never will be on his level. He will be playing backup for some shit team in 4-5 years.

In terms of Nix...he's not a bad prospect. I'd say he's more of a 2nd round guy and put the upside at Derek Carr ish, which isn't bad.

But any time you say "his upside is that of a hall of fame elite guy" you probably are gonna get laughed at.

Accuracy, processing speed to name just a couple. Brees is probably a top 10 all time QB and you are saying that Nix is essentially a more athletic version than that.

It's absolutely amazing sitting here reading Broncos fans twisting themselves all up trying to justify the drafting of a 2nd or 3rd round prospect at #12 because their FO panicked when they saw a run on QBs. The one they wanted was taken before they picked.

None of you all wanted Nix and now you are trying hard to justify him. Denver would have been better off drafting Rattler later in the draft vs wasting a pick on "more athletic Drew Brees".

The guy is already a top 3 QB all time and has the bulk of his career ahead of him, you can just feel the defeat in them.
He already has as many rings as their entire franchise who had two HOF QBs. One more and he will have as many rings as both those QBs combined. He already ha more SB MVPs than both of them.

Yeah I think a more mobile Derek Carr is a perfect comp. And that really not bad. Carr never had an offensive coach worth a damn and Nix gets Sean Payton so that will help.

He’s probably going to be just above middle of the pack QB range when it’s all said and done and that’s way better what they’ve had for the last 8 years.

Really scraping the bottom of the barrel here.
And at the same time, he cites the offensive players drafted from TT as evidence that he had plenty of talent around him. A whole three players in three years, and the two skill players have never been heard from since.

People look at Nix's comp% and think that's a sign of great accuracy, but he really isn't that accurate. His ball placement isn't that great and he makes receivers dig out tough grabs. Also, his eyes speed up on him and he breezes through progressions too fast.

Denver fans highlight his completion rate and TD/int ratio, while leaving out that his average depth of target was third lowest in FBS.

Nix is far more likely to be a bottom half or middle of the road starter than a top 10 guy.

I do think Brees' accuracy is far more underrated than most think. It's one thing to be accurate in college and another to be that way in the NFL where windows are far smaller. Perhaps Nix will be wildly accurate in the NFL, but to say his upside is a more athletic version of a Top 10 all time QB without even playing in a preseason game is kinda bold.

Brees's ball placement might've been as good as any QB that ever played. Nix....not so much. It's a pretty ludicrous comparison.

I'd have taken Rattler. I think he has a lot of potential. Plus it would've allowed them to draft an elite weapon or dominant defender at #12.

Guys like Mahomes, Brees, Brady are simply exceptions to all rules.

It’s insane and dumb to compare any rookie to those guys by finding some random similarity. Mahomes’s college system didn’t end up mattering. Brees’s height/tools didn’t end up mattering. Brady’s draft slot didn’t end up mattering.

But guess what. For most guys, all those things do matter. The great all time QBs are a very very select group.

It’s always more likely that a rookie will be a bust than an all time great. The comparisons to any great are always stupid.

Agreed. And history shows that at least half of the QBs drafted, will bust. One or two might be 12 year starters, the rest are journeymen. All this noise that QJ is posting is just crazy talk for right now. I’m obviously hoping for the best with Nix, time will tell. I do think he is the day 1 starter.
