What Are You Spinning? Cont.

Rabble's thread has become extremely slow to load and post so I'm starting a new one while the other will be locked.

As rabble is no longer with us (cough), I have been authorized to post in his stead.

Perhaps we can add a full description of the video then post a direct link in an effort to forego the issues in the original thread.

Let's hear what your hearing.

This is the youngbloods dug out this evening might be the first album I ever bought after graduated from 45's. Jesse Colin Young was such a great vocalist and underrated bass player. Guitarist Jerry Corbitt was unique nothing like him of that period.

Spun up Jesse Colin Young-Light Shine album. Forgot this was a pretty good album very well done.

ABB made a hit out of the title track but as much as I loved the ABB Jesse's original is best.

I don't know of an ABB song called "Light Shine."

I know they have a song called "Soulshine", which was written by Warren Haynes.

Right hmmmm they are so similar that I swear the tittle was just changed. First time I heard Soulshine was The Greg Allman Band.

You sure?

It was written by Warren Haynes in the 90s, appeared on an Allman Bros album, then Govt Mule did it, naturally, it was on a Mule album in the late 90s...the Gregg Allman Band never performed that song as far as I know.

Well I am completely mixed up.

JCY wrote Light Shine for his 1974 album by the same name. Really thought they were the same song just changed up Light Shine for Soulshine. I could have sworn Greg Allman sang it as Light shine on an album but also cannot find. I must say Warren Haynes skirted the edges of plagiarizing.

Yes, the melodies are very similar. Even though "Soulshine" was the name Warren's dad called him, those melodies are similar enough to warrant the kind of "My Sweet Lord"/"He's So Fine" or "Constant Craving"/"Anybody Seen My Baby" kind of thing.

If you watched House Of Cards there is a very pivotal set of scenes using one of his songs as background music. Really good stuff. That's where I first heard of him.
