*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Of course, Mahomes shits on him in INT% and sacks taken, but given the fact that Rodgers was statistically more efficient and ended up sitting out games that year, I think it's hard to argue against it. That was the year they sat Rodgers week 17 and Matt Flynn threw nearly 500 yards and 6 TDs. In an alternate universe where they didn't sit A Rod, he probably goes over 50 TDs and 5,000 yards with just 6 or 7 INTs.
The original article/analysis is behind the paywall at the Athletic. If you have a sub, it’s here: https://theathletic.com/2238258/2020...b-this-season/

Not wanting to copy/paste full premium material, below are the summary comparison charts (hoping my attempt to embed works)...

Rodgers 2011:

Mahomes 2018:

Mahomes 2020 (through first 7 games only):

Edit: and again, without copying/pasting Seths premium content, his use of “accuracy” is essentially completion % + non-completions % that should have been caught (ie receiver-at-fault drops). Seth describes it as a metric measuring how well a QB is playing within the offense, or rather making and executing on good reads.

This is per game on average with best and worst games thrown out as outliers I believe. Also a few weeks old.

As well as the insane never lost by more than one possession stat and over 30 points per game average in losses am I right in thinking that there is only one of those games (Colts) where the offense was partially to blame and even then that was when he was still limited by a dodgy ankle. All other games they got over 20 points.

He's still the MVP unless Rodgers has an insane game today. Rodgers got blown out by the Bucs. Mahomes throws 3 picks and still gets almost 400 yards, 2 TDs, and a two score win (excluding the garbage time FG)

Like what? Mahomes doesn't have a predictable release or trajectory. More likely that DL/LB are taught to put their hands up and are just getting lucky
