Butker got some work in on the infield dirt at the K today

It's a shame that in 2019 this should even be a thing. One more game I guess.

****ing hell, the NFL has resodded fields with less than 12 hours to play before. You mean to tell me there was no sod in Mexico? Or no MEXICANS to do the groundswork?

If you believe that, I have a ****ing bridge to sell you. In Mexico.

The NFL could have resodded that field and had the game there with perfect field conditions if they wanted to...

There was a mass shooting at a bar in Thousand Oaks about a week before the game, AND a bunch of wildfires burning up Southern California at that time. They talked about it all game long, and about how good it was for the residents of Socal to get their mind off the tragedies they were enduring, etc.

The game was moved back to LA to allow the Rams to put on a show for the LA fans in a time of strife, to allow those people to connect with a team that had just moved there.

It was a heartstrings win, and the NFL wanted it in front of their hometown crowd.

Think about it.

I'm pretty sure NFL cares more about money and making the most money possible. And that game was 2 weeks after the shooting and there are always wild fires burning in LA.

And please show me what field was resodded 12 hours before a game and playable. Especially one in the condition of the Aztec stadium that week.

The Rams game was moved to LA SIX DAYS before the game. 4 days after the shooting. While the fires ravaged the area.

Arrowhead was resodded between the Colts game and the Patriots game in the playoffs last Jan :

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbs...last-week/amp/

Only an absolute moron believes that they couldn't resod that field with a week before the game.

Shut the **** up and get the **** out of here with that ignorant bullshit.

The NFL lost tens of millions and who knows how much money they lost in their effort to grow the Mexican fan base, not to mention threatening their multi year arrangement with Mexico. But yeah, I'm sure the nfl would totally threaten the international game they've been talking about for decades because they felt bad about wildfires.

Arrowhead was resodded quickly because they were maintaining a greatly kept field. Azteca was a mess and no sane person on the players union would have any confidence that their incompetent grounds crew could pull a miracle off given that the field was destroyed because of stadium incompetence. The idea that the NFL would uproot a major spectacle like this at the 25th hour for petty reasons is ridiculous.

They didn't do it "at the 25th hour"; they did it with SIX DAYS to go. And that was after spending 2 or 3 days talking about the field conditions...

Arrowhead was resodded with something like 90 hours before the AFCGC.

If the NFL was adamant about playing in Mexico, they could've shipped sod AND a competent grounds crew to Mexico City to install the sod in time...

Did Arrowhead look like this?

And if it was about the shooting and wild fires, why were chiefs players also protesting playing on the field?

Again, arrowhead is well maintained 12 months out of the year. They were growing on an already strong base. Mexico was a complete mess with the fields totally torn to shreds from rain and overuse. The big issue was that a concert and heavy rain annihilated an already terrible turf. The NFL lost a ton from moving the game at the 25th hour. They wouldn't move it unless there was a critical reason for doing it. It wasn't just that flipping the field would be a miracle, it was also lack of confidence that the same stadium managers who botched the game would have the field not just ready, but pristine by game time. Why would you trust the safety of our players to the hands of stadium officials who thought it was a great idea to host a huge concert right before one of their biggest events of the year?

We all saw the pictures and not a single chiefs fan felt comfortable with our players playing there.

That's not true. The Chiefs players were much more concerned about wildfires and shootings. So passionate that they volunteered to play in a hostile environment.

Apparantly you don't understand what 'resodding' entails.

If the Rams had defeated the Saints week 9, the Chiefs Rams game would have been played in Mexico City.

That is all there is to it, no matter what the tooth fairy and Santa Claus and the great pumpkin say about it.

The idiots running the stadium put sod in a day or two before the very first use. Hybrid grass takes about 15 days to take root. Without a foundation the resod will be total shit. It's not their first rodeo. They constantly resodded for soccer and the field was total shit and players constantly complained about it. Then the field went to total shit soon after which isn't supposed to happen. The field was in shitty shitty condition and it was made a lot worse by stupidly planning a huge concert right before the Rams chiefs game. Mexico could have put a lousy but passable turf in time for the game but the players and the players union nixed it.

The players pressured the NFL to move it, not the other way around. That is totally ridiculous to think the NFL would want to cancel that kind of major international spectacle unless they absolutely had to.
