Definitely on the right track but testing continues to decline (Ducey announced increased testing the other day in the predominately poor Hispanic area of the city who are the highest %age of cases). Deaths could use some work.

Cases: The 7-day death avg has hit a new all time high. 3rd highest death total in a daily report today. Likely: 150K cases by July 20, 3,000 deaths by July 25.

Testing: PCR Testing dropped roughly 2.6K tests since yesterday.

Spread: Overall PCR positive test percentage held at 14.1% (based on 695K tests, up from a 6.6% low) and the average for this week dropped from 20% to 19% (based on 33,633 tests, down from 21% last week).

Hospital Utilization: COVID Hospitalizations went down 1.5%. ICU beds for COVID patients went up 2.5% (Overall ICU bed usage went down 90% to 89%). Ventilators in use for COVID went up 1.8%. Intubations for Respiratory Distress dropped below triple digits (98).

Started June 20. Late at night. Around 10:30ish. I would probably toss out the first week if I were to summarize the mandates affect on current trends. Next week will provide more accurate data to work with.

What a shocker.

Quote:
internal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) documents warn that fully reopening schools would be “highest risk” for spreading the coronavirus, according to the New York Times.

The 69-page report labeled “For Internal Use Only” was compiled to assist federal public health response teams in dealing with coronavirus hot spots. The document includes reopening plans and proposals in line with CDC guidelines, for state and district schools along with universities.

Hell from all the reading I’ve done, we can’t compare this to the flu because we don’t have accurate flu data.

Like you I’ve somewhat been lax on the flu shot. No more on that.
I've always gotten a flu shot because 1) it prevents the flu and 2) it's free through insurance. There's never been a reason NOT to get a flu shot.

yep..interesting article. Not surprised about the protests adding to the number of new positive testcases.
Wasn't aware of the surge in Mexico though

7-day running averages smooth out day-to-day variations and weekend effects.

The 7-day running average of cases started ticking up around June 14.

We can clearly see now that deaths are following course, starting July 7. The lag is about 3 weeks. Data clearly show that deaths are going to continue to increase for the next several weeks. It is as inevitable as the Titanic sinking the moment it hit the iceberg.

I hope this will end once and for all wishful thinking that increases in new cases won't eventually manifest increases in deaths.

It's some bozo with 2,000 Twitter followers, which apparently, is all someone needs today to be relevant on the internets.
