2019 Free agency Thread

We don't really have one of these yet, so figured we could use this as a place to discuss potential free agent acquisitions and what we would like to look for them to bring in.

If any of you guys are interested, heres a good place to do some research.

At what price do you extend a player who is very similar to Steven Nelson in terms of style? Waynes is longer and a decent tackler, but is not great when he cannot see the ball - he gets grabby and does not have the best ball skills.

Not sure I'm offering a lot of draft capital for that.
Waynes played pretty well while Rhodes missed time last year, with him a lot of it comes down to how does he fit into the scheme here. His body seems perfect for what Spags has always liked. Also depends what they want...I'd flip a 3 without a thought possibly a 2 if I believed he was a great scheme fit.

Much rather Darby, ACL and all.
I find this odd, Waynes is a much better player than Nelson is.

If he's healthy. Either way, you're taking a risk.

They have to get someone.

Maybe Waynes is plan B if Darby doesn’t sign. That’s probably how I’d approach it.

He's on a futures deal after not playing in 2018.

So he's only slightly more likely to make the roster than you are. And those odds drop to exactly the same if Sherman gets re-signed.

If you sign Sherman, Ripkowksi is gone and they wouldn't bat an eye doing so. He's here exclusively as insurance in the event that Sherman's market gets out of hand.

What makes Clark a fit here when Ford wasn't? If someone can explain that to me, I'll listen.
That would require a lot of 'splainin'.

I know I couldn't do it.

Well he's definitely taller.

I don't see the fascination with Waynes at all. That dude is 4 years of mediocrity who probably wouldn't have gotten that 4th year at all but/for his draft status.

If he's an upgrade on Nelson, it's not by much. He's coasting on pedigree, not performance.

Eh, I think people around here are pretty hard on Nelson. I don’t think he’s great, but he’s a decent player who was asked to do more than he’s capable of, IMO.
