RIP Parnelli Jones
Parnelli Jones, 1963 Indianapolis 500 winner and legendary racer, dies at 90
He was an icon. I can remember people saying with sarcasm to other drivers "Who do you think you are? Parnelli Jones?" RIP to one of the greats. https://www.cbssports.com/motor-spor...ent=newsletter |

I was once talking to a motor sports writer and he was convinced the popularity of auto racing, specifically the Indy 500, had waned since the safety standards improved. He thought the death factor made it more exciting to the viewer. It was like Kirk Douglas in the chariot races.

My Dad loved that race car driver so me and my brothers did too. I think Dad liked him because he mainly drove a Ford. Remember him in those Baja 500s of course in a Bronco.
RIP Mr Jones a fine driver of fast cars. |

After my chores are done, I will tip up a whiskey glass of bourbon in your honor.
