The Motorcycle Discussion Thread

I figure there are some motorcycle guys/gals on CP, so I thought we could have a place to talk all things Motorcycles.

Tire Mount and Balance Prices (as of 10/29/16)

Prices based on if you remove the wheels yourself and bring the wheels and new tires with you:

Cycle Gear - $35 per wheel if you buy tires from them. $58 per wheel if you buy tires elsewhere
Rawhide - $65 per wheel (assuming it would be the same at other HD dealers. they book it at 1/2 hr per wheel)
C R Cycle Tires (DeSoto) - $30 per wheel

Cheapest I've found my Michelin Commander II's. Seem like they have good prices on other brands too.
http://www.jakewilson.com - Free 3 day shipping on orders over $75

Anyone know a good place to find a battery side cover for a 2003 Honda shadow vt750? I see some on like ebay for 90 bucks for a pair but I'm currently in cheap ass mode and I really only need the left side as it fell off the bike going down the road yesterday.

I'm trying to sell the bike actually. so would you just sell it minus the cover or replace it?

Don't know where you could find one other than ebay. I would definitely replace it. I would imagine it will be harder to sell if you don't replace it.

BTW, that's a good bike. I used to have an 05 Shadow Aero.

The big one. Called the road star. 1600 cc vtwin. Needs tires really bad. Didn't even ride it at all this weekend. Trying to sell my Virago now. Once I get it sold I can get the tires and put them on the new one. Really excited.

I'd always heard about craigslist scams, but never been hit with one until today. Dude's emails read like they were written by a Nigerian prince, and after we agreed to terms in which shipping was his responsibility, he says he can't get western union to accept his payment, so he is adding the shipping cost to his paypal payment. I received an email saying 2000 dollars had been added to my paypal account, but in order to receive it i had to provide proof i had paid the shipping company... This email went to my spam folder. This all seems very fishy so I canceled the deal unless he could meet the original terms, which meant he was covering the shipping. No deal! Anyways, here is the link to the craigslist ad for my bike in case anyone here is interested. She's been a great bike.
