Final Mock

This is a what I think will happen mock, not necessarily a what a I want mock

1. Cesar Ruiz, IOL, Michigan - The Chiefs flirt with the idea of going WR or RB here, but instead they decide to go with the best IOL in the draft. All signs point to the Chiefs “pumping up their asset” in Mahomes according to Terez and many others with sources within the organization. I know I’ve been mocking defense in the 1st in all of my mocks, but it’s hard to continue to ignore all that smoke. Ruiz is 20 years old with 11” hands and a rock solid all-around game. He could either start at LG or C in 2020.

2. Willie Gay, LB, Mississippi St. - With all of the talk about Logan Wilson and Jordyn Brooks going high in the 2nd round I get the sense that Gay will be there at 63. If he’s there and the Chiefs don’t go LB in round 1, I think it’s very likely he’s the pick. With great size and athletic ability but inconsistent tape, Gay is a boom or bust pick that I’m willing to gamble on with House and Spags coaching him up. I think Veach will be too.

3. Zack Moss, RB, Utah - This guy reminds me of Kareem Hunt so much this pick just makes sense. People love mocking that faster RB’s to the Chiefs, but I think it’s obvious that Veach and Reid want a bigger more physical guy that can catch the football to compliment the passing game.

4. L’jarius Sneed, CB, Louisiana Tech - With good size and great speed, Sneed is a sleeper that had really good tape playing corner in 2018, but moved to safety in 2019. After running a 4.37 at the combine, teams are starting to think corner is his position in the NFL. After watching some of his 2018 stuff, I agree and think he could be a hidden gem.

5. Quez Watkins, WR, Southern Miss. - This has been my guy at WR in just about every mock. I think he’s the most slept on prospect in a very deep class. In most classes his 4.35 40 would’ve pushed him up boards significantly as people dug in a little more, but there’s just so many guys in this class that WR’s like him are getting lost in the bunch. Good for the Chiefs though, who would probably like to take a WR, but the later the better.

I think Ruiz is at least a half round too early. Pretty solid guy but I think he's a solid level below what I'd be looking for in a Round 1 center. I guess someone has to rise though because there aren't 32 players with a first round grade.

Pretty torn on Willie Gay. Don't know what to think.

He’s just outside of my top 32, but I don’t think it’s a reach by any means considering he’ll be long gone by 63.

If they can manage to trade down a few spots and get a 4th that would be ideal, but I try to stay away from trades in my mocks.

I like it, although I wonder how the LDT contract restructure impacts our desire to go IOL early.

I could live with it. I'm high on most of those guys sans Gay.

I especially like Watkins and Sneed.

Some chatter on Watkins being a 3rd round guy though, but we'll have to see.

I like trading down for a high/mid round #2, plus another 4. Then, Ruiz makes sense in the second round, and the others still might be available?

Ive drafted All of those players, at one time or another. I think you are correct about Moss in the third, as we cant wait for the 4th to get him, unless we trade up. I dont think he gets by Denver with the 12 pick in 4th round. Will be an exciting draft for sure. Maybe not tonight for the Chiefs, but overall, looks interesting.

It's not my dream scenario but id love it if this was our haul. Ideally id like another pick to grab a corner a little higher but i do love me some Moss.
