Goldschmidt gets fastball, and fouls out to first.

and because Mo wanted everyone comfortable. We are locked into $270+ million worth of contracts of aging and underperforming players. He achieved his goal of making them fat, happy and comfortable. AND since his outdated strategy has failed AND he is not adapting, despite his making money hand over fist for Dewitt, the owner has to step up and save his club from further embarrassment.

Pirates took the Cubs out behind the woodshed tonight. 18-5 in the top of the 9th.

Pittsburgh scored at least one run in every inning but the 3rd.

Damn.

Unsurprisingly PB apparently thinks Matheny wasn't a terrible manager.

Newsflash, Mo being a moron doesn't cancel out Matheny being a moron.

Cards have more international bonus pool money than anyone, finished "just out of the running" for Jasson Dominguez (stunning), and now have used almost none of it.

How/why do they have so much bonus money?

"something something, dry powder, something something...." /Mozeliak.

When the organization can't be bothered to EVER pursue top 20 international players, they don't run the risk of any future penalties that might diminish their pool.

I forgot sometimes that MLB treats the Cardinals like a small market.

Yeah, I think they get that intermediate treatment pretty much across the board.

Gives them a chance to grab another 6th inning or utility infielder prospect here and there. So many JAGs in this system.

They're in the top tier for competitive balance, so they get $6.4 million for this period.
