Agreed. I think he's an NFL RT. He's tall and I can't say I've seen too many great LTs over 6'6" over the years. All of his major experience is at RT and it's limited at that. Calling him a "stalwart" is overly premature.

I would rather have Morgan because I think he would give us more versatility, but it would be a tough choice if both are available there. Guyton is higher rated at tackle, but I think at LT I would rather have Morgan, who I can eventually move to Thuney's position and not lose a step in a couple of years if needed.
Morgan's floor is an average to above average starter even at tackle IMO. |

That wouldn't bother me at all. Relatively cheap trade-up cost to get a pretty good OT prospect. I could live with that.

Pick 15 is Indianapolis and they have 7 picks in the draft. They need CB & TE.
Pick 16 is Seattle and they have 7 picks in the draft. They need IOL & DL. Pick 17 is Jacksonville and they have 8 picks in the draft. They need Edge & CB. Then pick 18 is Cincinnati and they need OT. 15-17 might be the sweet spot they would aim for here. |

Indy might want to trade out if Bowers is gone. They can get a CB at the end of the 1st.

I’d love to trade up a little and get a LT

I'm hoping that Morgan is there at 32 and then try trading up in the second to get one of the WR's you like there. If the draft falls our way you might be able to trade back a few spots to move that 64 up and get both a tackled like Morgan and one of the 2nd tier WR's. One of the simulators I was able to trade back with Carolina at 33 and got their 39 by giving up 64 and 173 and got Morgan/Legette.

I don't think there's any way in hell we can trade up for a sure-fire LEFT tackle.
But I'm still not so sure we don't take a tackle. And it may well still be a good value pick. Taylor's athleticism and contract leads me to believe that the team was comfortable with him at either side, and while Morris was a mixed bag last season,he was perfectly serviceable in three of four games. The whole team was a dumpster fire in Vegas, so I don't think that's a fair measuring stick. If the team wants to shore up the OT situation, take a guy with the physical attributes and take 3 physical specimens into camp and figure it out. We're just not going to get into position for one of the sure-fire guys. |

Dunder brought up a great point about projection in the WR thread but wanted to elaborate with real numbers. There just aren't many OTs with actual experience at LT in this draft. Take from the following what you will, but my opinion remains that its not that strong of a LT class despite the quality of the overall class unless you really strain and project.
Here's an in-depth look at the OLine class with guys who at least spent some time at one of the tackle spots. I'll bold those with at least 10 games started at LT. I'll highlight in red those where the prevailing thought is they have to move inside to OG or OC. I'll make those blue where the thought is they cannot play LT in the NFL and the position is up in the air (RT/IOL). Alt - LT (21 GS) Fashanu - LT (21 GS) Fautanu - LT (29 GS) LG (2 GS) Latham - RT (27 GS) Fuaga - RT (25 GS) Barton - LT (34 GS) OC (5 GS) Mims - RT (8 GS) Guyton - RT (13 GS) LT (1 GS) Morgan - LT (37 GS) Suamataia - RT (12 GS) LT (11 GS) Paul - LT (44 GS) Beebe - LG (26 GS) LT (13 GS) RT (9 GS) Coleman - LT (22 GS) LG (12 GS) Puni - LT (27 GS) LG (13 GS) RT (3 GS) Rosengarten - RT (28 GS) Fisher - RT (26 GS) LT (1 GS) Amegadjie - LT (14 GS) RG (10 GS) Jones - RT (35 GS) LT (13 GS) Wallace - RT (40 GS) Foster - LT (39 GS) RT (2 GS) Nourzad - RT (20 GS) OC (13 GS) LG (7 GS) RG (1 GS) Glaze - LT (15 GS) RT (17 GS) Laumea - RT (26 GS) RG (18 GS) Goncalves - RT (13 GS) LT (11 GS) Leveston - LT (32 GS) Ayedze - LT (37 GS) RT (9 GS) RG (1 GS) Thomas - LT (25 GS) Rouse - LT (52 GS) Driskell - LT (26 GS) Crum - RT (36 GS) LT (13 GS) Glover - LT (35 GS) RT (18 GS) LG (4 GS) Ezirim - RT (19 GS) Gargiulo - OC (17 GS) LT (14 GS) LG (5 GS) Greenfield - LT (31 GS) RT (24 GS) Henderson - LT (20 GS) LG (19 GS) Monk - RG (36 GS) RT (12 GS) OC (10 GS) Pearl - LT (24 GS) RT (9 GS) RG (5 GS) Grable - LT (43 GS) Coker - RT (41 GS) LT (5 GS) Barnhart - RT (16 GS) LT (9 GS) RG (3 GS) LG (2 GS) Dankwah - LT (25 GS) Edwards - LT (29 GS) Nester - RG (41 GS) RT (11 GS) Jerrell - RT (40 GS) Flax - RT (23 GS) Sundell - OC (25 GS) LT (15 GS) Manu - LT (33 GS) LG (6 GS) Thompson - LT (37 GS) |

Suamataia - RT (12 GS) LT (11 GS)
Paul - LT (44 GS) Amegadjie - LT (14 GS) RG (10 GS) These are the three guys that I've been primarily looking at anyways. |

What’s the problem with Paul? He seems like a good solid player
