Zayne Anderson?

Just figured I'd give this guy his own thread, since Devon Key got one.

Key, as you know, is an UDFA who the Chiefs promoted as they got increasingly meh with Thornhill, to be the Chiefs 3rd safety in dime packages. He got rave reviews in camp, does look pretty good...

...then kind of farts out in the preseason game, including giving up an 80 yard TD.

This week, so far, the Chiefs have grounded Key on the 2nd team, and promoted ((((you guessed it)))) Zayne Anderson to the 3rd safety for the team's dime packages.

I imagine we'll see it on Friday night.

Anybody know anything about him?

I don't know if that's racist, ageist, or even sexist, but it's definitely one of those things.

He's Mormon, so you just know he's GOTTA be nice!

I could see him mowing the old lady next door's lawn for free. Without being asked.

Sounds like trash tho

Overview
Oft-injured safety with experience in a variety of schemes and the athletic ability to offer some versatility. The measurables were great at his pro day, but he doesn't play to his size, lacking tackle strength and heavy pads. Anderson can gain ground from high safety with a smooth pedal and has the hips to transition and adequately chase routes. There aren't enough instincts for NFL ball production, though, and his run support success is below average against lesser competition. His special teams background and impressive testing could get him into a camp if teams are OK with the medical evaluation.

Strengths
Showed very good speed and quickness at pro day.
Adequate athleticism for coverage in space.
Has experience in multiple coverages.
Did not look out of place when asked to line up over slot.
Range and hustle to cut off angles against run as high safety.
Has been productive member of special teams.
Plays gunner and handles kickoff coverage.
Excelled in both football and as a sprinter in high school.

Weaknesses
Durability is a major concern after he missed time in three separate seasons.
Somewhat slender through hips and thighs.
Doesn't always trust what he sees in coverage.
Would like to see more ball production.
Inconsistent entry points as tackler.
Below-average tackle strength and physicality

He graded very well in the san fran game which has seen his stock rise and get reps with the first team defense. He's taller, stronger and much faster than Sorensen so hopefully he can shine again in the next two games and give Veach something to think about.
