I'm pretty sure that was tipped. Clay might be able to determine that depending on the source..

I've seen Mahomes passes wobble when he misses high. Just watch his interceptions in TC.

I don't buy that it was tipped. If that's how it looks when it's tipped, then it was going to be a horrendous overthrow anyway.

Good breakdown here.

Quote:
This will be blamed on the O-line, but Mahomes stepped up way to far here. He does everything else right, he feels the pressure, steps up, realizes Watkins (who Green was calling Watson for some reason) will be open and gets ready to launch it. But because he stepped up a yard or two too far the defender was able to get in his face to prevent the throw and eventually get the sack.

That being said, you could argue that maybe he didn’t step up too far. Harris gets beat so badly that his guy is pretty much 100% free, so Mahomes stepped up that far to buy himself more time. If he had only stepped up a little, the defender might have been able to strip him of the ball from behind while he was making the pass.

With the benefit of hindsight Mahomes should have escaped the pocket and tried to make something happen from out there. But given what happened at the time I can see why he did what he did.

Now looking at it again, I think he could have gotten it off, and he was actually a bit too conservative and stayed on that first read too long.

I’d say the biggest problem on that pay was Harris’ poor block. Had he done just a little bit more Mahomes would have had enough time to make the play. But had Mahomes ran that play at an elite level he still could have gotten it off.

Honestly tonight just looked like a mismatch when it came down to OC vs. DC (I'm assuming was Biennemy vs. Crennel tonight. Don't have any confirmation outside of some twitter reports)

Are you inferring that Biennemy and Reid schemed and were out-schemed in game 1 of preseason? I promise you this was about as vanilla as it gets.

I can't comment on TC but that ball wasn't wobbly when it came out.

Tonight was more vanilla than it has been since 2015 or 2016 preseason. Last year was the first year with Alex Smith that Reid seemed to actually open it up for him in the preseason.

The teams we play early are going to kill our OL. They look like shit. Mahomes better get the ball out quick and Andy better give it to Hunt a shit ton in September.
