You always have to consider NFL team needs, cap space, etc, so I think this number will be lower but -

https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/arizona-.../market-value/

DeAndre Hopkins
Market Value
3 yrs, $69,620,304
Avg. Salary: $23,206,768

Not sure what team can afford that but probably not the Chiefs.

A protected Patrick Mahomes will make these guys look very good.

Receivers
87 Travis Kelce
17 Richie James
24 Skyy Moore
4 Rashee Rice
19 Kadarius Toney
11 Marquez Valdes-Scantling
84 Justin Watson

Bills too. At this point I’m guessing he lands with the Jets or Lions. That’s my uninformed hot take of the day. You’re welcome.

Jesus Christ. Thats worse than I thought. Kelce gonna be on the cart before week 10 with the usage he's going to be forced to have. That WR corp is a disaster unless Rice is legitimately good.

At this stage of their careers, (after the season which began when they were 30 years old) only four players have gained more receiving yards at this stage of their career: Randy Moss, Larry Fitzgerald, Julio Jones, and Calvin Johnson. This despite having two consecutive years with significant missed games (one due to injury and one due to suspension). So the talent is among the best ever.

Among this group of 25 WRs, at this stage of their careers, they had gained about 64% of their career yardage. Based on the average of these 25 WRs, we might expect something like the following over the next 5 years from Deandre Hopkins:

Year Age Yardage
2023 31 1300
2024 32 1250
2025 33 1150
2026 34 950
2027 35 800
2028 36 600

Or if we ignore his superior performance among this group to date, and only consider average performance from ages 31-33 we could expect:

Year Age Yardage
2023 31 1000
2024 32 1000
2025 33 900

A long term deal where we were essentially tied to him for the next three years has relatively low risk. He should be quite productive over that time span, if he can perform at an average level among players of his caliber.
How many of those were injured at 29 and 30 years old?

There isn't a team out there thinking that he's going to produce anywhere close to that, because he would have easily been traded.

Maybe Mahomes was indirectly communicating with Nuk when he made his "legacy over money" comment?

Carolina Panthers has $27,319,322 of cap space.

DeAndre Hopkins would have a nice climate to play in.

NFC South is wide open for a team to claim as champions.

QBs - 2 Matt Corral, 14 Andy Dalton, and 9 Bryce Young. Young will be given every chance to be the starter.

Current WRs so they need Hopkins
18 Damiere Byrd
17 D. J. Chark
86 Gary Jennings Jr.
88 Terrace Marshall Jr.
15 Jonathan Mingo
85 C. J. Saunders
5 Laviska Shenault
12 Shi Smith
13 Marquez Stevenson
19 Adam Thielen
87 Josh Vann
83 Derek Wright

Guess the previous story was BS about how Hopkins was in KC.

What injury are you referencing at age 30? His knee "flaring up?" Leaks in the past few days throw into question how severe that injury actually was. I'd bet he would have played through it for a team that wasn't absolute trash (with a total garbage home field).

Before he tore his MCL in 2021, Hopkins had missed two games in his entire previous 8 full seasons (playing in 126/128 regular season games).

Don't act like he's Odell Beckham. This is not a player who has a significant injury history.
