Tell me about some of your fave ‘Yacht Rock’ songs or bands

Been digging on some Yacht Rock lately. Was a little to young to appreciate it back in the day. What are some of your faves?

Stuff like:

Michael McDonald.
Christopher Cross.
Steely Dan.
Loggins & Messina.
The Doobie Brothers.
Kenny Loggins.
Hall & Oates.
Toto.

Etc.....

Just my .02 but I prefer putting them into the progressive rock genre although some of their songs are definitely fitting.

Not many true Yacht Rock bands, Steely Dan definitely isn't one.

I always thought of them as a great stoner band, especially in my days when I was getting high.A lot of the songs I'm seeing labeled as yacht rock is what I call 70's AM Gold.

I don't know what the definition of "yacht rock" is, but whenever I'm out on the sailboat... Steely Dan gets played and is enjoyed.

Is this sailboat rock then?

It’s a radio station on Sirius that plays a lot of these artists mentioned. My wife listens to it all the time, although when I first heard it I figured it must be the Michael McDonald station because it seemed like every third song had him in it.

I’m pretty sure Journey qualifies, if so count me a fan of some yacht rock... already paid for tickets to them with the Pretenders this summer

Lots of good music listed in this thread, lower key mellow stuff is awesome... I used to play ma’s Christopher Cross album to death

Man cannot live by metal alone

Never heard the term yacht rock before, and Steely Dan is one of my favorite bands of all time.
