NFL Season opener in Brasil

Green Bay Packers vs Philadelphia Eagles

The Green Bay Packers will open the 2024 season against the Philadelphia Eagles in São Paulo, Brazil. The NFL said Wednesday the Packers will play the Eagles on Sept. 6 at Arena Corinthians, home to the Brazilian soccer team SC Corinthians, in the league's first South American game.

Its already a success. Packers and Eagles fans are diehard. They aren't going anywhere.
Sure. As a novelty it will attract some fans to the stadium.

Are those fans attending in greater numbers going to pay near as much money as Packers or Eagles fans would pay.

Is the NFL ever going to be more than a niche TV market outside of North America? I really doubt it.

I think it's a drag for the teams regarding the travel, but whatever.

Putting one off games on sites that require a monthly subscription is actually the bigger drag.

It wasn't a drag at all.
Everyone in the US watched one form of NBC that night.

Grown men getting paid to go to Brazil for work. Cry me a river.

Only a 39k arena tho.
Which is a miss i think.

Did they choose the packers because the yellow and green in the Brazilian flag? Wouldn't shock me one bit.

Yea, millionaires having to fly first class isn't something I'm losing sleep about. But I think it's dumb of the NFL to drag the teams around like that. First game of the season, whatever. But flying to Germany in the middle of the season isn't doing teams any favors and for what?

The NFL thinks they are suddenly going to get people in these countries to start watching the NFL? I'm not buying it?

I mean let's start dragging Pakistan cricket teams over and having them play in KC. You going to start watching on TV afterwards?

Hopefully they put all the international games on Peacock and it's a complete flop.

I'm guessing NBC got to pick the matchup. They wanted a team with a widespread loyal fanbase who would sign up for Peacock to see the game. I'm surprised they didn't choose the Cowboys.

Exactly.

Football is an American sport. This is ours. The big games should be on American soil so if middle class American citizens can go see their teams if they choose to.

Lol

To get less than $200 tickets at Lambeau you have to sit far and high. And know someone. Eagles average in the $300s.

Middle class, lol.

Good God you're dumb, NFL is showing these games in these countries because there are already Millions watching, Brazil has over 20m NFL viewers.

Do you complain when Taylor Swift and Beyonce take their acts overseas or when American films make Billions overseas?
